frame off resto, car wont crank, just clicks once. WTF?
Ok heres the skinny. I have my harness all done. i rewired the whole thing cause it was thefted. its a 96 harness most of it, everythign is back together, now i got the battery hooked up, and the new lock cylinder in, and i turn it to ignition 2, (aka on) the vafc lights up like its supposed to, the climate controls light up, and what not. now i go to crank it, and it just clicks once, then wont do **** after that. so i turn the key off, then i put it back to ignition 2, the vafc doesnt light up. i then pull the terminal on the battery, and like 10 minutes later its fine. the ecu is not plugged in, so i know it wont fire over, but it just clicks once.
i left the battery on the charger for all last night, and its an automatic charger, soo it shut off when the battery was fully charged. i got the lil green eye on the battery. so the battery is good. what do i check first.
motor spins freely via the crankshaft pully. (resistance of course, but not like whoa.)
grounding is good on motor.
starter is good.
me = lost
BTW its a 95 gsr, not my R

check the basics, fuel, air and spark.
mine was doing the same thing when i finished up my motor build. It ended up in my case that the main relay, which controlled the fuel pump was bad. So my fuel pump wasn't kicking in. Its actually sort of common for those relays to go out. I would check that first.

Sounds like you goofed on the wiring somewhere....either way, what ECU are you using, and, Well....if you don't have an ECU in the car, how do you expect it to to do anything????
Though I really dont know this for certain, but if you have an 01' ITR as your screen name suggests, and you're using your factory ECU, then it has an imobilizer in it, that unless it's plugged in and used in conjunction with the correct key, it won't do much of anything....Also, when you replaced the locks, did you reconnect the imobilizer circuits, they may have to be plugged in to start the car regardless of whether they are functional, ie. even if you're using an after market ECU, the wires may be ran such that they are needed....
You got me on that one?????
Check the relay for the starter and all the fuses.......
Good Luck, let us know what it turns out to be!!

quote BTW ITS MY 95 GSR, NOT MY R end quote.
im running a hondata 2b. vafc and alot of ****
i got the car as a theft recovery, and and rebuilding it. the harness was chopped up so i resoldered most of the harness in. 96 gsr harness, 95 gsr body, so the underdash section is all 95 gsr out to the plugs on driver side, but the passenger side is 96 gsr. anyway, all the colors matched but a few, (a/c circuit and ****, which im not running anyway..
but anyway, i just tried the grounds again, made sure the motor turns (nothing is siezed) so i mean whats up.
i reset everything. pull battery terms off. wait 10 mins. put terms back on, turn key to ign2, vafc lights up, key beeps when its in ignition, climate control works.... seems normal. then i go to start, the starter clicks, and stops, like wicked fast. so then i try again, turn key off, remove from ignition, and repeat the first few steps. only now the vafc doesnt light up, the climate doenst work and the things dont do ****. basically its the same as if the battery was out of the car. is there a relay somewhere in there that resets after a certain amount of time or what? something that i might have forgot to plug in?
i didnt goof on the wiring im 99% sure. everything matched in color.
im not expecting it to run right outta the box. i know that i need to check spark and fuel and ****.. no biggie, thats expected. it wont even crank. and the **** shuts down all the way....
thanks in advance.

no, but good call... i bet you thats it. damn cars. why do they have to have all these dumb *** relays. why cant the key turn the switch and it just send power to teh starter. it would be that much easier. but no.. they have to add 5 relays to it, jsut to **** us up.
If it were me I'd take a second look at the battery. The first time it was definitely a dead battery, but if it's doing the same thing again... I dunno. I would try and give it a jump start rather than just charging the battery. That way you can completely rule out the battery. Especially if you let a battery sit for a while (especially on concrete) they'll lose their charge. If they sit too long without a charge (and especially if they freeze) they'll lose the ability to hold a charge.
That's just me, but I freeze my dead battery every winter and buy a new one every spring, so who am I to talk. Heehee.
