I got a chipped mugen p28 and my vtec is at 5500... I have gsr cams.. Hopefully in a while ill be upgrading to either CTR or skunk stage 1.
On my old b20/vtec setup I had it set at 5500 but once it was dyno tuned it made more power when vtec was moved to 5800.
I had ctr cams dialing in overlap is what makes power on na cars. In most cases vtec at higher rpms.

i'm running my vtec at 5200 rpms, that's on stock gsr cams. it seems to pull hardnow, i wanna see what difference ITR cams will make!

ZEX stage 2s vtec x-over at 5800....anything lower seems to want to bog out.
The first lobes seem to make great power too.

my ctr cams stopped making power at like 5100
look at this dyno :
you can see where we had them 5k, 5200 for most runs, then once at 5400
with stock cams i wouldn't put it lower than 5200 and thats' even a little high
my cam timing is +1, 0

I set my V-AFC to 5200, at 5800 vtec hit so hard it would break traction in 1st. with the crossover point lower, the transition is a lot smoother. I am running USDM ITR cams.

I've dynoed a few cars and the best place is 4600-5000 with no dips in power at all. From stock b16 to built,ls/vtec,b20/vtec,b18c5's
B17A1 head, Dinian Chipped P28 vtec x-over at 4800 rev limit set to 7800.
4800 seems to be the sweet spot for my setup.

right now stock gsr cams stock p72 xover at 4800, waiting on skunk2 stage 3 and hondata to raise it up to 5800 see how it pulls
