hey guys, i was just wondering what are some of the best tires that you guys are using on your CRX Si wheels. and how much are they costing you? thanks.
Dunlop also makes the SP8000 in a 195/55/14. Then there is the Toyo T1-S Proxes. They make both a 195/55/14 and a 195/45/14. And, of course, there is the Falken Azenis. But this only comes in a 195/60/14. And unlike the others, it is only an H-rated tire. Other than these, there is nothing available that is high performance.

How about Yokohama AVS ES100's? I've heard good things about those as far as street tires go. They actually come in the right size for an OEM CRX Si wheel also, 185/60-14. Decent prices, decent treadwear, and from what I hear, great handling (wet and dry) compared to the competition.

what i meant is standing water, they suck ***** in that, at the national scca tour people were sliding all over the place on their azenis cuz of standing water.

I dont know if the Dunlop FM901's come in 14's or not but they are pretty good........I have them on my 15's.........Much better in the rain than Azenis.
Let me jump on the Azenis band wagon. I have them, only about 600 miles on them... they are great, and they work in the rain... and in stand water.... as well as most HP tires do in standing water. You'll see what i mean if you get them. When you see them on for the first time you'll sware they are cubby tires, and they do look that way, but the side walls are much stiffer then they look. Falken also told me to expect about 10k miles off the set of tires... street and limited track use. Some of my club members complain of road noise from them... but they arent any louder then the cheap tires i replaced with them. They do need to be driven kinda hard to break them in... 100 miles or so... you'll see. As far as the SCCA stuff and going into water... they were probably shaved down... the more wear with Azenis the less you will like them in the rain.
Well, they don't make them anymore but, I think "tire rack "still has some left, and, cheap.
Yokohama AVS intermediates
I've used them for years. Probably, my 5th or 6th set.
They are great!! V rated, Unbelievable grip, decent milage.(30-34,000 mi.)
Ride slighty hard. Slighty noisey, but not so bad.
Just, all right in the wet. But all-around great tire for the price.
Now like $35 -$40 each for 195-60-14.
When I bought my 1st set, like 10 yrs ago they were $150-$170 ea. list
G Dam!!
Tire Rack SOLD OUT!!called 4 0r 5 places: all gone!
Now what tires do I buy?

195/60/14 Falkens are ok on 14x5" CRX Si wheels?
That seems like a narrow rim for a 195 width tire... any input from those that ran that size Azenis on a 5" rim?

I thought the rims were too narrow but they god on fine... any tire place can handle it... and the performance is great.

They will fit fine on a stock rim. Just one thing. I can't say I was entirely impressed with the Falken Azenis in the 195/60/14 size. Now the 205/50/15 is a different story altogether.
