no vtec = good thing.

test the voltage at the sensor wire to see if there is power there.

when you put the wires into the ecu, How were you holding the plug? Allot of times when you hold the plug you can you can go from the wrong side. Make sure you did not put the pins in the wrong place.

When we did my swap, My friend had the plug (wires away from you ) and the directions told him to have the wires face you. Small step but easily overlooked.

yea your car wouldn't rev that high if it didn't recognize vtec. VTEC must be working. Make sure the Oil Pressure Switch is grounded and that the wires are in the right pins

oil pressure switch is grounded, and the wires are pinned correctly, and yes the cut off is at 8200 still.

well i meant the redline is still at 8200, and you cant hear or feel the vtec. i dont know if anyone had this problem before, the engine idles and runs fine, and the car is fairly quick but would be quicker with the vtec changing over.

That's odd. Unless you physically don't have enough oil pressure to turn on vtec. My friends oil pump the screen was so dirty that he was not getting vtec at all. Do you have a cable or electronic speed sensor? When wired my pr3 i believe I had to tap the speed sensor signal back to the ecu side even the gauge cluster was reading it fine, the ecu wasn't getting the signal and ecu has to read atleast 6-10mph before it'll turn it on. But usually you should shoot a code if that was a problem. Weird. Hope it's not a physical problem. Did you get that motor all together? Or is it a rebuild? If it's a rebuild it's very possible they forgot to put in the dowel journals which allow flow for oil, if it's missing the oil may be going everywhere and pressure is messed up. You should test the oil pressure on different ends to see if it's getting enough.

yeah initially i bought the motor complete, had to get a another block i believe it was off a automatic b16a from a local import shop in town, but i dont think that would matter.and i dont think oil pressure is bad, i took the solenoid off and turned the car on, and oil came flying out fine. so i know that oil pressure is good.

Try disconneting the vtec solenoid plug and drive the car. See if it drives EXACTLY the same. Maybe vtec is working and you just aren't feeling it.

If it feels exactly the same (vtec not working) maybe run some wires to the solenoid directly and put it on a switch. Then you can activate it in the car manually and narrow it down to see if your vtec solenoid is shot or if you have a probelem internally with the head.

If it DOES actuate with the rig, then my guess is that you have a wiring problem.

ill try doing that disconnecting the solenoid plug and drive the car. i just replaced the top part of the solenoid. and still no vtec. i hope its just a wiring problem not something internally but the engine runs fine, no knocks no nothing, i hope to fix the vtec by next sat so i can run my crx agian. so i hit better times in the 1/8< track here in jacksonville, my best last week was 9.8@73mph>>> i was consistently getting 9.9-10.00 /1/8 passes, they could be better if vtec was working.
