Default Anybody replace their horn?

Well nobody in South Florida can drive and I think that to little old ladies in Boca, the horn on our cars means "come on over". I would like to put a big *** horn on, something that sounds like a semi is coming down on them. I dont realy like the sound of thouse air horns, so thouse are out. What about a police siren? I buddy of mine had one on his Yukon and it was freaken loud, unfortiently I have not seen him in a while so I can't ask him much about it. Anybody have one of these? How much were they and do they require an amplifer or anything? Thanks for the help.

D's horns are loud as hell...and he always hits them when i'm under his hood for some reason, in a garage, which makes me jump like a junkie on speed. So they're good for that, at least...

Is there any that uses the stock harness and replaces it. I would like to see a bolt on application. i am tired of running power wires everywhere in my engine bay.

Check this link out: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea...ighlight=Fiamm

This is from a Honda S2000 forum. The horn upgrade is a very popular subject on this form.

Hella Twin Supertone Horns
These are a great pair of horns if you aren't looking for an air horn type sound. You'll need to do a little bending of the bracket when you install these or else you'll get a terrible vibration against the body when you hit the horn.

The hella supertone twin horns sound like a 300Hz and a 500Hz horn, cause that's what they are.

christ, they sound 100X better than the stock piece of ****...

D,

Do these come with all the hardware needed to install? I need to wake up some of these old people here in FL, plus since my alarm is connected to my horn hopefully and additional upgrade.

Does anyone know how much more current these draw than the stock horn?... No relays are needed; just switch new horns (in parallel) in place of existing one!?
tia...

I think they might require more then the stock horn, and I am pretty sure that they come with a relay. It looks like a pretty simple install, just plug the relay into the stock horn wires and run new wires to the horn from the battery. I'll post pictures of this when mine come in, should be in a week or so.

Head down to your local Semi-Truck parts store and get the air horns off and 18 wheeler! That should wake up grandma! If you still want more get one off a train!

All the hardware??? no, you need to provide wire, and some female end type crimp connectors. add some loom to hide the wire from the pass side to the driver side.. and a new bolt for one of the horns.

like i said before, a moron could install these...

relay is not necessary, it comes with one, don't need it. and yeah, i'm sure they draw more current, but nothing that circuit can't handle.

D...got a question for ya...I can see in the pic you have the one mounted on the pass side behind the foglight, did you mount the other in the same place? Also, what's the reasoning for the two different frequencies on the horns (300/500)? Does it matter which goes on which side? thanks for the info...

BTW. How long did it take you to do the install?

thanks again man...

one is mounted in existing hole from OEM horn on pass side. other is mounted on driver side, symmetrical installation, new hole drilled in the front crossmember.

yeah, the 300Hz definatly needs to go on the left... deer only hear at that frequency and it will scare them more.

Install probably took me like 15 hours or something...

D - who's feeling like a bit of a jacknob...

D, yer such a *** sometimes He loves answering lots of little questions, i've learned that for sure! "Hey D, why are you using blue wire instead of green? Does it matter?" I'm his own personal hell.

Frequencies just interfere with each other, making the sound stand out like a bastard. Find a keyboard or program that creates tones, and play 300 and 500 hertz at the same time. That's what it will sound like, only much louder. Install took about an hour, had to take out his OEM fogs if i recall correctly, so that was part of the labor...we were changing oil and some other things at same time, hard to keep track of how much time went specifically to the horns.

jackass... if you're going to fix my info, at least do it right.

front bumper cover needed to be removed, (so, lower chin spoiler, fog lights, bumper cover, drill holes, route wire, replace) to drill the driver side hole. total install time for me was less than 2 hours including an oil change.

scott was busy trying to fabricate a camera mount with a dremel and his shaky hands. result was funny.
