Default Massive Dyno Pains

I have been comming to this site for about a year now and i have seen a ton of dyno graphs and i have to say that they are really low. Why do i say that they are low? well lets take the H23 dyno chart i seen a few weeks ago 145 whp with i/h/e/cams , thats really bad even though the crank hp is rated at 160 hp. Did these mods actualy do anything or did $1600 give that guy 5 very very expensive whp.

Now lets take a H22 rated at 200(97-01) & 195(93-96) Hp at the crank. When u see the dyno charts they make like 170 whp , and thats with some mods like I/H/E.
And i think thats really **** also , can these numbers be believed? Are people bullshiting?

What i want too know is avrage numbers (Dyno) for the H23 and H22 totaly stock?
Now take take number and see how much hp u get with Mod i/h/e/cam (whatever)
and see what the car is making . Now are these numbers worth the money?

Do people have H23 vtec dynos , is this engine worth the money ?

Dose any one have H23 with a h22 head dynoed and is this worth the over all cost?

What i am trying to do is filer out the crap (disinoformation) And start building a performance motor whats worth the money because i want some real gain with out blow drying the engine (turbo).

***Many thanks to all the people that are going to repley to this in a mature way ****

Ok, you have to concider driveline loss. And the fact that not EVERY honda engine is individually tested for the accurate static crank HP numbers.

Stock acclaimed crank hp numbers are just claimed. Temp, humidity, atmospheric pressure, Grade of fuel, etc, are not factored.

You must be forgetting that the numbers you were seeing were at the wheels....in addition to that your not gonna see big gains from boltons in an h series engine......the engines are already squeezing a fair amount of power out....to see real impressive numbers your gonna need boost or a built engine with like 11:1 compression or better. You dont see many NA ludes sporting over 200-210 to the wheels (245ish to the crank). With boost a 300 whp (350 crank) hp lude isnt unheard of by any means.....

Call Dynamic Autosports in LakeForest, CA and talk to a guy named Aries. He's their inhouse dyno tech. He has a H22A prelude with like 235hp to the wheels.

limited modifications for the h22a in bolt-on fashion.

unlike the b series motors where there are a ton of quality headers/exhausts/intakes/etc.

the numbers may not tell the story but everyday driving does. don't concentrate so much on the actual numbers rather the improvement on each individual car.

170 is a very respectable # for a stock h22 at the wheels.Since 10% is the usual drivetrain loss for a manual tranny Honda so 195 minus 10% equals 175.5.Most cars that are getting dyno'd now have high miles on them so 170 seems fine and accurate. Now with I/H/E you should expect a few peak HP increase and various increases and losses throught the power band.A trap people fall into is reading "AEM CAI 12.3 HP to the wheels"and"DC Header tested at 8.7 HP to the wheels"and"Greddy SP Exhaust 4.3 HP to the wheels"
Now people add all this up and come up with "My car should have 25 more hp to the wheels now" and it just doesnt work that way when they get on the dyno and only come up with 12 hp more than they had they get disappointed. So dont fall into the trap of adding up "claimed" HP figures.
