are all your door panels ripped on the side when you close your door and the seat belts get caught. what do you guys do about the seat belt, are there any ways we can get rid of those stupid door mounted seat belts? or do something so that it doesnt get caught on the door? my panels got so ugly and the side of the car got pretty chipped off.

The 88 crx's have pillar mounted seat belts, maybe you can swap? I absolutely hate my seat belts, but I'm just careful when closing my door everything single time. Thank god my door panels are still in mint shape!
it would take a lot of work to swap... welding and such, door mounted seatbelts suck!!! mine always get stuck, the door slammed on - but all you gotta do is clean them
i believe it's possible to swap everything over from an 88-89 civic onto a 90-91 civic but it would be a lot of work and $$$ on parts that don't really accomplish anything huge. not worth it.

Don't unbuckle them when you and/or your passengers leave the car. As God intended them to be used. Am I the only one who does that?
Oh, and unbuckle them before letting anyone work on your car. I went through a pair because of idiots.

are you suppose to just leave it buckled? cuz me and my friends were messing around leaving it buckled and open the door showing that we could still come out.

hmm..maybe thats why it says 'release in case of emergency' and the 88-89 model seat belts doesnt.

Sheesh - you open the door, get out of the seat, then close the door. What's not to understand?
They were Honda's way of satisfying the passive restraint rules, before they decided that that crazy airbag thing just might have some value.

When I bought my car I have both doors fine, my driver's is still good but my boss closed the passenger one night and ripped the door.... I about **** a solid gold brick but you can't really do nething when hes the guy signing your paychecks.
From what I've read and from talking to people with CRX's
in other countries. Yes, we are the only country unfortunately
blessed with that option due to passive restraint laws. All '90 - 91
CRX's in the entire WORLD have pillar mounted belts except
the US. And I bought mine new in '90 and the salesman said you are supposed to leave them buckled all the time. At least we didn't have
those stupid motorized belts like in 2G tegs. Though, I got my B17
from a Canadian 2G teg and it had normal belts as well.
Don't know how A 2G teg managed to get totaled in NJ, but my luck
that it did.
I think 89 Si's had door mounted belts as well.
And thats why 90-91 JDM's don't fit ! (found that out the hard way)

hahaha.. this post reminds me of my dad.... geez... I inherited my car from him (he bought it new) and my earliest memories of that car are of him screaming "DON'T SHUT THE DOOR THAT HARD, USE FINESSE!!!" hahaha.. this post is crackin' me up.. thanks guys.
I'm really missing the problem, I leave mine buckled all the time and have no trouble getting in or out. When you get in theyre moved forward and when you open the door to get out they move out of your way. I have no problem at all with the door mounted seatbelts, I actually like them.
