Default Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT) on B16A PROBLEM!!!!!!!!

Hey guys,
I've got a First Gen B16A in a 91 Si Hatch. It throws Code 6 (ECT - Coolant Temperature Sensor). I kept looking in the manual and I'm not sure if the sensor is the two prong sensor on the left side of the head (next to the single prong temp gauge sensor), or the two separate wire sensor on the back of the engine block. That's what the online manuals keep showing me is that there are two thermosisters or something like that.

Please help me cuz it idles like ****! Thanks guys.

Joe

ya its the single wire sensor by the vtec solenoid. I think a sensor from pretty much anything will work. Mine was bad so I used the one from my dx.

I used the one from my Si that had been sitting around for years.

If you want to test the sensor check its resistance cold and then suspend it in a pan of water that you heat up on the stove. The resistance should change as the water gets hotter (I can't remember if it goes up or down). That's how you know it's good The one I removed - the bad one - had a constant resistance that never changed.

i do not believe it would... I have been running my b16a swapped crx with a bad coolant temp sensor for a month now and have had no problems other than vtec doesnt engage... Idle problems consist of iacv fitv throttle body butterflys not closing all the way and or throttle cable needs to be adjusted
