bonnet vents
I'm sure someone may know who did this, or may know what the old, archived thread was called, but some one around H-T put a vent on their cf hood. I beleive it was an old vent sourced from an 80's car of some sort. The thread had pics and everything.
As I'm typing this, I think the thread may have been called "how to own a cf hood" or something similar. It may take a long search, but check it out as I'm sure it has all of the info you seek.
Good luck...
Get your header ceramic coated.
VERY VERY effective in reducing underhood temps. I did this to my Hytech header and find that I don't even have to pop the hood after gunning the motor at the track for a solid 20 min of W.O.T.
And - it's much cheaper than a new hood - should be a couple hundred Aussie bucks.
Ask at powdercoating places - most of them do ceramic coatings now

Placing some washers/spacers/etc. between the hood brackets and the hood is an inexpensive and (relatively) visually unobtrusive way to vent the engine compartment. This method takes advantage of the low-pressure area located at the base of the windshield and also has the benefit of reversibility. Lip used a similar setup on his old car, although in his case, I believe the intention was to provide air for the ITB's.
