question about GSR cams

Default question about GSR cams

this may be a dumb question
but i know about all the popular cams like Jun, Toda etc.
and the itr cams are quite popular
but i was wondering if gsr cams can be tuned?
don't flame on me if u all think this is a dumb question

i think those cams are already tuned for optimal performance (driveability, longevity for the car etc).......but i think if u advance timing, or sumn, u can get a few ponies (dunno wut the downsides are though)

i don't think there are any downsides to advancing a stock GSR's timing to 18 degrees

Yes, they can be tuned for more power. Get a set of adjustable cam gears and get them dyno tuned. I remember reading a post a long time ago about a guy that thought he had ITR cams but actually got GSR cams from the dealer. He made some pretty good power, but not as much as with the ITR cams. He eventually realized that the dealer gave him the wrong cams and they exchanged them for the right cams.
You may not gain a whole lot, but you can certainly gain more than stock.

hey keys - were talkin' cam timing, not ignition timing (at least i think), and yes there is some power in those cams that has not been extracted
