Something blew at high speed and no key for my lugs to top it off >:0
I was going stupidly fast on the commute home today (yes, it was really dumb and I am lucky to be alive) and the steering wheel jerked out of my hands and the whole car was shaking bad. The brakes didn't do any good until 20mph or so and I could barely steer.
After I got my **** together I got back on the road and kept it under 60mph the last 40 miles home. It drove ok, but still dances when I get on the brakes.
I don't have the key for my lug nuts! I'm guessing a body shop accidentally kept it on their wrench because the car has been in the shop 5-6 times since November.
Has anyone ever heard of a way to get lug nuts off without the key?
These are the ones I have: http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=158731
Here is an actual pic: http://www.auburnextremeracing.com/d...zeni02_jpg.jpg
Also: Anyone have a clue what might have happened??? I'm guessing a balancing weight came off or maybe a chunk of tire...? It feels like the rotors probably took a nice hit too.
thanks

i guarantee that the company only made so many key designs, contact them i hope you kept the package or some paperwork from it cuz there may be a code on it as to which key it is and they can send you another one.

it can happen by tourqing the lugnuts too much and it will snap.. those rims are will actually be a little easier to get a lugnut of rather than some other rims on the market.. go up to a shop that specializes with tires and **** and see if they cant get it off for you.. talk to one of the mechanics and offer something on the side for his time and labor (always works better this way)

I don't know about you, but my wheel locks came with a sticker to hide somewhere in the car so I will always know which ones I have. I also sent in a registration form with which keys I have. You can order new keys from them.
As far as what broke on the car....have no idea. Maybe a bushing went out, or maybe a bearing, or a driveshaft? You'll just need to take it apart and take a look. Did you look under the car at all?

What about just calling up the shop and seeing if they have any extra keys lying around. If indeed they kept it by accident, I don't see why they would ever chuck it out. If I had wheel locks, I would ALWAYS order a spare key immediately.

SMALL-DIAMETER LUG NUT SETS by gorilla, dude I brought like 3 sets of those for different cars (honda, nissan and toyota), trust me IT's the same key man, just go buy another set of nuts and you get the key, but the worst part is, no security one of my buddys got there wheels jacked, I guess somebodys out there knows that THE KEY FITS ALL GORILLA TUNER NUTS.
You can order just the key from gorilla. I think it's like $8-12. Gorilla "locks" are really lame, they don't really lock, because anyone else with gorilla locks can get them. If you can't get a new key, sand the lug down a bit, find a tight fitting socket and jb-weld it together, wait overnight and take it off. I woudn't worry too much about saving the lugs, they're no safer than stock. (Just make sure you replace them with the correct type of lugs, I put conicle's on my stock rims and ruined my studs.)
this happened to me only mine were the kind with a whole in the middle that the key fit... TOTALLY round on the outside...
I lost BOTH keys I had.. went to a buddy of mine who's a mechanic... he has this SWEET set that takes off EVERY wheel lock there is...
It's a set of circular-interior impact sockets (no edges). You spin it on the lug REALLY FAST for a LONG time (it chips the **** out of the wheel if it's a tight clearance)... once it's GOOD and hot you HAMMER IT ON.. REAL hard... let it sit for 5-10 minutes to let it cool.. then you just try to lossin it... worked on the second try for mine... AND it's no good for thieves because it requires spinning it on EACH lug and lettin it sit for at least 5 mins between spins and lugs... so it takes about 20mins at LEAST to do 1 wheel.
