it depends on the tranny, rev limit, and tire diameter. MOST FI people should be able to top out their cars...... not that its encouraged or anything.
sunday in highway whit no traffic at all i did 270-280km very easy at aprox 8000-8200 rpm if i had the ls gear whit bigger tire maybe i could hit 300 km i had to stop cuz my egt was climbing to 800c pass
i have a itr tranny whit ls 5th gear whit 8600rpm cut off
i dont recommend doing that kind of speed very dangerous just imagine if i had a blow out at that speed!

Ive had my car up to about 165. I wouldnt suggest it though. My car was hopping 2-3 lanes side to side uncontrollably. High speed wasnt meant for short wheel based cars with somewhat shitty aerodynamics (at those speeds).

with my gearing and tire size, I can easily achieve 200mph at 9000rpm
However you'd have to offer me a very large sum of money or 10-15 minutes with your girlfriend for me to do it.

yea i feel you, my friend (sinistercivic) has a c5 in a EG and he said he topd out at ~150 and his stearing wheel was shakingso bad if he hit a bump it might have flipped the car. i dont condone speeding on highways but on a track thats another story ;]
even on a race track that's a bit sketchy without the right safety equipement, and even THEN. You lose a tire at that speed, it's like saying hit me with a 20 in your hand - the odd's just aren't for ya.

Are you that quick, John??

To the original poster...unless your car is tuned for it, don't do it. Countless people have blown up their engines this way...it puts extreme amounts of stress on the engine.

What kind of tires/suspension are you guys running? My car feels more stable the faster I get.
At speeds in excess of 120 mph it's stuck to the ground. But every minute steering adjustment is multiplied as in any car. It doesn't feel floaty or anything like that.

My COMPLETELY stock HX is just as stable @ 125 as it is at 80... Higher speeds might be an issue with this car... I wouldn't know
or maybe i don't wanna know

to be honest with you guys, dont have to belive me or not, but on my old gsr, when I had the type r wing, going 130 on the bridge home felt a LOT more stable.
When I'm in 5th @ 100mph & feel boost PULL the speedo across the gauge, I get fawking scared. I will not push my car past 130's, even though It would pull higher.

When my car was stock I got it up to around 135MPH, car... actually felt ... fine.. No shaking or jerking, car felt pretty stuck on the ground and control was no a problem.
Now that I have been turbo, I have yet to really go that fast... yet... I don't really want to know.. Could I go faster than 150mph?? SURE, probably a little more... will I do it.... uh.. no thanks.
130mph is about all I'll do in a Civic, even then it's just dangerous. No traffic or not. I was just doing it cause I wanted to get away from some ricer that was tailing me.
I am curious though.
But.. I still won't do it.

Hell with a stock GSR motor in my hatch and a B16 tranny I had my SIR2 JDM cluster rapped around back to the pin that stops the needle. The JDM SIR2 cluster goes up to 180 KLM, so thats gotta be good for atleast 280.
W/ the stock ecu the redline at 8100 you'd top out around 140-145mph, I got my old 01 GSR to 144 @ 7300 rpm I think if that helps.

180kPH is only 112mph...just for reference

My car was damn smooth at 150 mph....i spent numerous times flirting w/ 7200 rpms in 5th.....talk about a rush, but if you wreck, its a given you'll die.
150 or so in my ED chassis... It feels fine accelerating, but the moment you're off the gas, and the suspension relaxes, it starts to get reeeeally wobbly... I sure as hell suprised that Vette I was running against, however. I had him by a few cars up to that point, but I was getting leery of the EGT's.
I coulda made diamonds outta coal my *** puckered up so tight when I did that.
