Default R12 V R134 Air Condintioning

I think its 134...anyways...on my 4th gen Accord, it calls for the R12 AC application. Now considering the car has over 180,000 miles is it worth it to pay the extra money and USE R12, or convert it to the cheaper R134? I've heard it'll cost less for me to convert it because the R12 is unbelievably expensive...And i think on Hondas, it only holds about 2lbs right? Correct me if i'm wrong. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

ya you have to have a technicians lic to buy it.. not to mention its 80 dollars a can! its cheaper in the longrun to convert to R134, you'll lose some cooling effiectcy but all in all its good. I converted my car 4 years ago and never looked back.

R-12 is only about $20-25 per can if you get it off ebay, sometimes even cheaper. Of course you still need your EPA licence to buy it, but that's super easy and only $15. I just got 2 14oz cans of R-12 for $47.50 from ebay. After I bought that, there were 3 cans with a "buy it now" of $50.00

I have the Freeze-12 in my car now, and it SUCKS! It will eventually get cold (42 degrees), but not until you've been moving for awile or on the highway. Once you come to a stoplight, it goes up to about 60 degrees. And yes, all my fans and everything are working just fine. The R134a worked better, but I didn't want to risk blowing yet another shaft seal, which is why I'm going back to R-12.
