ghetto rig check engine light?
Is there a way I can rig up a simple light to the ecu wiring to get codes?
I dont think the ef dash is compatable with the obd1 check engine system

I just drilled a new hole in the ECU cover, which im sure is what most people do. If your so inclined, you could desolder the LED from the board and run wires to your dash. Its just easy to drill a hole though.
AAHHHH, OBD-1 puts a whole different spin on things. On OBD1 cars im sure you know about the jumper that you cross to produce the flashing engine light.
Just get an OBD-1 pinout, and try to find out its location on the ecu, since you dont have a jumper.

yeah that was why i was trying to figure out what to do, so if i just make a service connector and plug the normal check engine light line into the obd1 computer it will flash the check engine light?

If you do a correct OBD0-OBDI conversion, jumping the factory yellow timing advance connector on the driver's side shock tower under the hood will produce the codes through the factory CEL in the gauge cluster.
My brother used to have an OBDI conversion in his CRX, and this is how we checked the codes
. Kind of a PITA if you ask me... why don't they just put a little light on the ECU like the OBD0?
