Went to Payn Technologies in Detroit, MI. on May 3rd to have my Hondata tuned and Hondata nitrous controls software setup, just now getting around to posting results.

Hondata Nitrous Controls utilizing NOS parts (30 hp shot-jet 022)

On Payn's new Mustang Dyno the setup was good for 183whp and 178tq. The JRSC puts out a strong 9-10 psi and in high rpm's almost 11 psi. Tom tends to tune conservative which was what I was looking for, did a great job part throttle adn full throttle tuning.

Check out where the nitrous spray's at 4,000 cuts out at 7,000. We set the high end limiter at 7,200, started to get into valve float above that.
One of the coolest things was when they started tuning full throttle running rich as hell watching it just pouring smoke, a few pulls later exhaust was clean as a whistle, my first tune session.

We only got to tune it on a 30 shot of nitrous, this was Tom's first time using the Hondata nitrous controls so it took a second to get everything working properly then we ran outta time, it was the same day HIN was in Detroit. Already pumped the juice up since then and rechipped nitrous settings, can't wait to get it to the track and see what happens.

Nice, how does the nitrous control wire up? Are there any extra parts you need to buy, like a relay switch? I will be getting mine setup with my ZEX kit hopefully in a few months.

 

You need some sort of switch to arm the system (I used a toggle) through the ecu and and a relay between the ecu and the nitrous solenoid.

I have heard you have to wire it into the A/C pin on the ecu. What if I wanted to retain my A/C? Also, how exactly does it wire to the solenoid? I'm assuming it splices into the power to know when the system is armed?

 

I like the charger, it's not a big powerhouse up on the high end but it's got a **** load of torque. I love letting turbo guys drive it (not just b/c I get to drive theirs too), funny seeing the look on their faces when they step on it down low.

Have you got any heat soak yet? I herd that when JSRCs get hot they dont seem to perform as well. What is your opinoin/experince?

You can also wire it using power steering pressure switch input and purge solenoid output through the ecu, that would leave your a/c system operable. Relay send power to the solenoid to fire it.

 

Can I wire the relay into the nitrous arming switch I already have then and use the one switch to arm the whole system? Also the power steering switch, that would mean I would have to remove the power steering correct? I would much rather rid myself of that than the A/C. (hot if Florida, it would almost be as bad as getting rid of your heater core in Detroit (I used to live there))

To arm the system all you do is wire a toggle switch with a ground on 1 side into the ecu, either pin the a/c switch or p/s switch if you wanna keep your a/c. Simple, when you flip that switch it automatically sends a ground to the ecu, that is what arms the system. Pretty sure you can keep your power steering even if you use that as an input. That is the only way I know to arm the system is by sending ground to ecu.

Watching the datalogger the intake temp heats up hard at wot in longer gears without the nitrous. Any sort of compressor at that psi will produce a hot charge without some sort of inter/aftercooler. I'm sure the heatsoak overall is a little worse than other setups considering the charger is bolted directly to the intake manifold.

Let me know when you get some track times. I ran this setup for 2 years on my del sol. Never dynoed, but it was probably making mid to high 200s. Hit 116 in a 2400 lb car. I'm interested to see how you do. Brian

116 mph, What? Thats unbelievable, fastest I've been through the trap on this setup with 22x8x15 is 100 mph, do you have any details on your setup?

You made 183whp with a supercharger AND nitrous!?? if so...when you getting a turbocharger

GITWIDIT, where are you spraying the nitrous into the motor? Before the JRSC? This can be bad for the blower rotors you know.

Yeah, sprayin in front of throttle body through charger.Some say it's bad, some say it's okay, I really don't care to much, been gettin away w/ it for 2 yrs.
Did you smoke the clutch at ricewater? Sucks, yeah I'll be see'in you there!
