Default 17.50 Quarter Mile time in CRX with b16a swap?

I recently did a b16a swap in my crx, raced it last weekend and got a 17.50 quarter mile time, I guess the question I am asking is what could be srong, the car is stripped, I am ran no exhaust, vtec is working, my ECU is not throughing any codes(PR3).

I don't know what the problem is, the car shakes and vibrates at high speeds but I am pretty sure thats not the cause of power loss, it has a new cap and rotor, timing chain, and elternator belt. I have a S1 tranny in the car, please leave your feedback, thanks again.

Your driving skills suck maybe, a little more info would help us out to determine what went wrong and where.

I am pretty sure it isn't my driving skills, even if it is 17.5 is a little pathetic I have seen crx's with b16 swaps run mid 14's thats a 3 second difference.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could be causing power loss.

I run 2.6 60 ft and 83 mph in an 1/8 with a 9.59. that's about 14.5-15.2 in a 1/4. what size wheels are you running. 17z slow me down .5-.8 secs compared to 15z. And have you checked your timing and fuel mix?

I read on a couple threads and tomorrow I am going to check fuel, fuel filter, throttle cable, and a couple other things, hopefully this will fix it. here is my time slip:

r/t...1.124
60...2.683
330...7.335
1/8...11.237
MPH...62.65
1000...12.634
1/4...17.506
mph...78.44

my engine is all stock, car used to be a DX automatic. I am running 15" rimes on nitto 450's.
I am running arizona race motor mounts, my cv axles are brand new.

any suggestions will help, thanks everyone.

1. Do a compression test, and tell us the results.

Are you sure VTEC is working right? There is no way in hell that motor should only do 17's. I had no VTEC in third one time and I still ran a 15.4 @ 88, and shifting at 6500 RPM i ran a 16.2. Maybe you have an Auto B16?

I will do a compression test tomorrow, and yes I am 100% sure vtec is kicking in, as for the auto engine how can I check to see if i got an automatic engine? I got it from hmotorsonline.com and it came with the S1 tranny, thanks.

Do you know if the engine and tranny came together?

Hmmmm Im starting to notice something my ZC turbo Civic ran a depressing 15.4 the other day "Granted my 4th gear is dead". My Civic used to be a automatic also and when I just had the ZC minus the turbo it only ran a 16.4.

Wonder if EF Auto are cursed with slow 1/4 mile times

Those are some really slow times for a B16, and a ZC. Check the compression on the B16. It looks like it might be bad. My first motor from HMO had very low compression #'s, and they replaced it. Also my brother used to have a ZC in his CRX with only an intake, and it ran consistent 15.8's.

Alright, I had a ZC CRX, Integra ECU and exhaust, thats it, 15.8, ran my SOHC Z6, intake, exhaust, and vtec controller(no fuel just vtec), 15.8. I ran my freinds Y8 with a 50 shot at the track, and it hit a 15.7 at 89 MPH, and 2.6 60 ft, so if I coulda gotten a 2.3 that would be a 15 flat.

Could you possibly have the automatic cams? I herd of this being a major factor w/ B16s.

I have a hatch with a B16 in it and i beat cars that run mid 14's. Your car should be a lot quicker than the 17's. Your motor might be bad or check your timing, it might be off. Also the quote about it being an auto B16 can be correct also

Have you checked your throttle cable yet? I have a b18a an when i first did te swap i just hooked the cable up and went about my business. Then i noticed(after 300 mile break in) that it had NO power after like 4500 rpms. i finally figured out that it was my throttle cable..it wasnt opening up the TB all the way. It only opened it like 3/4 ofthe way. I made a custom bracket that positioned the cable so that it would open up the butterfly all the way. It made a WORLD of difference on top end. Just a thought. Good luck with fixing that. later man.

you might want to check your timing (distributor and cam timing). also make sure you have fresh spark plugs (gapped properly) and spark plug wires that are in good condition.
