swap, harness, help ??????????????????????
ok i am attempting to do my first swap and i could usesome help up until now i have had all show cars now i want speed but i am having so much trouble deciding what to do. i have heard so many different things from so many diff people that i dont know which way to go well heres the question i was told the b16 motor was the best swap for me and if so what car does that motor come out of and does anybody know a good place to get one from. if that is not the best option please let me know otherwise. bear in mind i am planning to go turbo with this swap. 2nd i know the harness has the heat and radio etc wires in it but if i put in a swap and complete harness and ecu and cluster in my 89 hatch then do i really need to modify the harness or pay to have one made. of course i will have to run power/ground to the radio and heat controlls , blinkers, lights blah blah blah. any input on this matter will be greatly appreciated thanks
What model hatch?, if its a si, and you want a b16a very little wiring is needed. If you are going FI I would get a b18 engine. If you have a si, and you get a b18a all you need to do is swap the harness over.

i have a b18b1 engine but thats it no clutch flywheel harness nothing so i figured it would be easier just to buy a complete swap then trying to find all the parts for the other one what do you think and any suggestions where to get a tranny cant find cable tranny anywhere and yes it is a si
not in regards to the engine so I hope you dont mind. How much was it to bag your hatch and do you have any pics. That is if it is bagged. I am asking because I have been building my car for a while now and I have thought about bagging it but I just wanted to see one first. Thanks
well i would say just use the b18 its mostly plug and play, just get an obdo ecu out of a 90-91 teg, and im not 100% sure but i beleave it will plug in to ur harness if its an si, as for the tranny since ur going turbo just get an ls tranny easily available at local junk yards, hope this helps good luck with ur swap and keep us posted on how it gose
You can use the wire harness from your si, and you prolly want to upgrade your clutch and flywheel anyway, so find a tranny, and a distributor. Call some JDM importers, and go from there. Ryan
