Default HELP... Urgent !!! :)

My RE010s are worn out...
I'm thinking of getting Azenis 205/50/15... and the cheapest price I can get is AUS$800 including fitting and balancing.
However... A shop that I know has RE010 195/55/15 on special for AUS$800 including fitting, balancing +alignment.

so what I'm saying is the total cost of buying RE010s is around AUS$60 cheaper than the azenis. ($60 for the alignment)
Help me... I really don't know which ones to choose.

What do u think about the prices... are they OK?
I don't really know the exchange rate of the USD now... I think AUS$1 = US$.55
so AUS$800 is about US$440

HELP !!!

added:
the tyres are going to be fitted into standard 15 inch rims...

what do u think?

which one is the better tyre... RE010 or the Azenis?
I know the RE010 usually cost about 2 times of the azenis... but I can get them the same price as the azenis....
BUT... one of my friend said that RE010 is an old tyre with an old technology... LOL... don't know if this is true...

added:
I changed the question...
If you can get RE010, RE540 and Azenis for the same price, which one would u get? All of them => 195/55/15

each tyre cost around US$100...

help me

help me out guyssszzzzzz

I like 195's. When I bought my car, it came w/ 205 50s and I thought the steering was a little bit sloppy. These tires were worn out so it may not be a fair comparsion. I bought 195 50 so3's and love them. Not sure about AUS prices check on the web for currency calculator. 205 50 Azenis are about $65.00 USD and the RE's are about $125.00 USD not including mounting and balancing

I'm now looking for my third set of tires after 45,000kms (about 30,000 miles) and have found that both the Bridgestone RE010 and RE711 have great traction but wear out pretty quickly. Like you I'm currently looking around and might go back to 195/55/15 rather than the 205/50/15's as I have been told there is less sidewall movement with the stock width??

I just got some Azenis put on my stock rims about 1-2 months ago. I'm very happy with them (they grip like crazy) and i payed $550 Canadian for a set with shipping.(sounds like CAN $ is worth more than AUS $)

I got the RE010 on my R and are very satisfied with them. But when they wear out I will be in the same situation as you - so I find this post very interesting!

My older brother had the Potenza RE540 on his Nissan S14 earlier this year, extrem grip on track and good also on road use, but they wear quicker on street use. He weared them out in under a month with much track and road use! I guess that tire is compareable with the Azenis, but I think the RE540 is of even better quality.

If you track your R a lot and want ultra good grip performance and endurance ability - go for a semi-slick as the RE540 or Azenis.
For mostly street/road use and some track days - I think the RE010 are a very good tire.

But the RE010 should has some competition from other tires than semi-slicks... but I don't know of any other "normal" tire wich is this good

I would get the 010's if I were you. When I switched from 010's to Azenis the turn-in response decreased. Price was a factor when I went with Azenis as well - so I'll say again, I would get the 010's (because price is not an issue).

I'm ready for my fourth set of tires and I have decided to go with a 195/50 tire for two reasons; cost and width. Cost because the tires I'm getting are on sale and width because I want that tight steering response back.

I would say: RE-010 or S-02 or S-03 for street.
RE540 or Azenis for the track. Are you planning to use the tires you are getting on the track?

Is the S-02 195/55R15 available in AUS? It is available in Europe and it's better than the RE-010 in all aspects. The RE-010 is indeed old technology.

You can also get the 195/50R15 S-03 for cheap......

Would you say the S-02 the best tire for mostly street/road use and even some track days? I thought both the S-02 and S-03 were much softer and more "regular" type of tires - At least the S-03 PP Seem to have alot softer and flexier rubber-compound than the RE-010... and so does my tire-dealer say.

Thats has been my thoughts exactly - there should be some decent opponents that can outperform the RE-010 in standard dimension. Alltough, i am very happy with the RE-010! I am always looking for a better tyre choice!

S-02 and S-03 does seem to be softer but "tougher". Seems they have found a way to make tire compounds softer AND lasting longer (Silica?).

I see in your sig that you're driving on the Potenza S-03 PP in almost orginal dimension (original is 55 profil, right - not 50?)

How are the S-03 compared to the RE-010? (if you have tried the RE-010 before) Feeling any difference behind the wheel? Track-experience? Wear-out-time?

They don't got the RE-010 at stock here in Norway - might be difficult to get - so I'll might have to go with S-03 when it's time to get new. I'd like to continue using a Bridgestone tyre anyways!

The only disadvantage of the S-03 is the weight. Everything else is better or at least as good as the RE-010.

195/50R15 is a bit smaller in diameter, so the speedo will be 3% off....

Thanks for the inputs guys...

I don't take the car to the track and I cant see any possibilities for tracking the car anytime soon.

I'm now 80% sure of getting the RE010... coz the other 2 tyres (azenis and 540) is not really cost efficient as I'm not using it on track...
in addition to that, I'm looking for a set of tyres that can last at least around 30K km (about 18K miles).

yup yup yupppp tell us the difference between the RE010 and S03

once again thanks guys.... U have been very much help !!!

so they weight more ?

I'm not saying that the tyre is not good, but one of my friend said that s02 and s03 are cheap tyres with no performance... what do u think?
but I dont think he knows much about tyres so dont take it seriously...

BTW... I was looking at http://www.bridgestone.com.au , they don't have s03 for 15".

lol your friend is an idiot.

S02 and S03's are some of Bridgestone's top performance tires. They stick like hell and the S03's have VERY good life (25k on mine so far [two replaced due to flat spottage, but the two front ones have 25k on them and have about 40% life left and I've tracked the car with them and autocrossed them)) and are very good in wet weather. I'd say the S03 is the best around if you want very good dry grip and good wet grip with lots of life. Azenis are better in dry weather and fine at wet weather (not as good as the S03's though) but they wear out a lot faster.

I've had 010's and S03's off rims before, and the sidewalls of both are damned stiff. It was harder to mount my S03's than it was 032Rs.. although BFG R1's remain the most difficult tire to mount that I have experience with.

The rubber itself on the S03 is fairly soft, but it does laste.. can't say that for most soft performance compounds.

At equal cost, I'd stick with the RE-010.

Pro: "Correct" Size = better turn in, no speedo error

As a new Azenis soldier, I can say they have mad lateral grip but they are quite a bit more "vague" on turn in - even compared to other 205/50s I've had.

Still as US$ conversion, that's a grip.
