Default What kind of brake fluid for track day?

I need to swap my 97 stock ITR Fluid out for a track day, but am not sure what kind (motol, but I am not sure which #).

I am signed off to run solo, so I am going to be beating the car a little, so I need something that won't boil so quickly.

thanks...Scot

Scot, go with either Motul 600 or ATE Super Blue. Motul has a higher boiling point, but it needs to be bled more often and you only get .5L for about the same price as 1L of the ATE.

Motul 600 is now called Motul RBF 600. Still great stuff, with a dry boiling point of 312°c / 593°F and a wet boiling point of 216°c / 420°F.

I would go with ATE. It comes in two different colors making it easier to flush your brake system when you need to; plus you get double the amount for the same price as Motul.

Boiling points on ATE are dry, 536 degrees F. and wet, 392 degrees F.

At $10 a bottle for the RBF 600, I'm more than happy to pay an extra $10 for Motul RBF 600 for my annual flush. What I get by paying that huge difference is boiling points that (as you can see) are much higher than the ATE. The added protection against boilover makes RBF 600 a real bargain!

I'll say it again, I've heard Motul is great. DC Sports used it on the Type R's in the Speedvision Touring Car races.

You shouldn't need more than two bottles (half liter each).

You can also buy Motul here: http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/
