redline only at 7000 rpm?

i have a jdm b16a and ever since i got my car my redline is only at about 7k
whats wrong?
is there something wrong with the ecu?
i'm runing the pw0 ecu
maybe this ecu is from a ex civic thats why my redline is only at about 7k?
or i might be wrong can somebody help me out with some info

Is the engine warmed up all the way when you do this? My friends car does not let him rev to 8k when its still somewhat cold. Also, you could have an automatic ECU if it is warmed up. Check any for any codes and start there.

Your problem is probably your ECU... That's the only thing that can control redline and rev limiter... What ECU did you say you have again..?

That is the right one, but you probably have an automatic ecu instead of five speed... It is for the JDM B16A though.... Check the numbers on the ecu after PW0 and if it's auto they'll be like 100-up... If it's five speed they should be like 001-100 or something close... HTH...

I would guess your vtec is not engaging (youre not getting enough oil pressure)?
I remember when I had my b16a crx it wouldnt rev past 7k until it was warmed up.
Even at auto ecu is supposed to redline at 7600.
