fiberglass sunroof insert...
there are lots of people out there that have this, i'm sure. but has anyone ever modded the fiberclass insert (put on the appropriate rails) so they roof could still open n' close. they main reason i ask, is my sunroof, like man others out there is quite rusted, and i'd think it be interesting to get a fiberclass one rather than a oem replacement.
Can't be done without major custom fabrication.
The OEM sunroof has studs in it that the rails slip over and are secured onto with nuts. It's a two-ply design. The fiberglass filler is just a flat panel with lips around the edges so it can be riveted around the perimeter, sideways, into the roof.
If you're interested in an operational, carbon fiber sunroof panel, contact "doctor cortez" on this board.

I have never seen a CF sunroof plug/replacement anywhere other than from Cortez here on this board.
I have no firsthand experience with either the fiberglass or the CF sunroof plugs or replacement panels.
