Toda header install...
hey everybody. i'm new to the community. well, sort of. i've been coming to this board for a while, just reading and stuff, but never really posted anything. i use to have a hybrid eg a few years back, but i got rid of it due to college. now i'm kinda missing the whole thing and thinking about getting a teg or a type r soon. but in the mean time, i've been working on friends cars and installing stuff and spreading a little knowledge here and there. anyways, i just installed the toda header on my friends '01 type-r and i thought i'd share a few pics with you guys. enjoy.

well, my friend has jun stage III cams and with the stock header, it used to bog hard right before vtec. also, when rev'ing up to 9500, the power delivery wasn't smooth and i'd feel rough patches within the power band.
installing the toda header and the custom straight pipe cleared that all up. the first thing i noticed was that everything was SMOOTH. the power delivery felt so linear and just pulled hard all the way up. i definitely noticed a big improvement on the low end as well. everything feels nice and torquey. i wish i could give a better in depth review on the thing, but unfortunately i was only able to drive it around for a little bit.
the car still needs to be tuned though, so i'm sure it'll feel a little bit different then. when it's all tuned i'll post more pics and his dyno sheet.

thanks dude.
as for the car, it's totally stock looking on the outside. my friend has been focusing on the motor first. i'm sure he'll get to the outside soon enough.

Yeah i know bro, but i also thought people made procecures to make sure they don't get any hot spots when they first install the header. I.E. cleaning header with rubbing alcohol before turning the car on.

Well first off welcome to the board and I hope you can find your R so you can join in the fun.
I have really been debating getting the Toda header but I have a bit of body damage. I love the golden brown color the header has in the first 2 pics. Keep up the good installs

You can juts tell that header is top quality!! Unlike some DC Sports **** that rust after a month of use!! I pretty much guarantee you that your friend will never have a problem with that header rusting out!

there's no way to tell for sure unless someone were able to dyno jun III's/toda B's on the same car in conjunction with the toda headers. but i "assume" that the toda B's would work better with the toda headers being that they must have made their parts to be optimized when used together.

It's not a matter of really a proceedure per say, but you just need to treat it like a halogen bulb, don't leave any oil from your fingers on the header when you go to turn it on...as long as you clean it with some rubbing alchohol, or some like all purpose cleaner before you start it for the first time, then you're ok, and just make sure that if you ever tough it or spill something on it, even water, that you clean it off properly.
It'll stay that sort of gold color for a while....it's just nearly impossible to keep it that way for a long time....or a least in FL where I live....
