Default Question for 388 owners

Sorry to beat a dead horse here, but I was wondering what sizes and offsets are compatible with an S2000.

For example:

(front) 16*7 +35
(rear) 16*7 +45

Can you run +45 up front if utilizing oem calipers? I know that one member here stated he runs +35 in front to clear Spoon calipers, so I am wondering if the clearance issues are different. If I wanted to run 16" Mugen MF-10's with a +50 offset, would I run into a situation where I would need to utilize H&R spacers (5-15mm in the front and 5mm in the rear respectively), thus equating to the same fitment as the above mentioned 388's, to fit properly?

Thanks for any and all input or help.

Default (none)

The MF-10 designed for the S2000 are 17x7.5" for the front w/ a +52mm offset.

I don't think you'll have any clearance issues w/ a 16" wheel and a +50mm offset - you may want to get more than one opinion though.

Good luck!

EDIT: Why do you want to run the same size wheel in the front and rear?

You could run a 16x7 +35 front and a 16x8 +45 rear. Thats what I am running. I also have Spoon calipers. The Spoon calipers wouldnt fit with the +45 16x7 fronts unless you use a spacer. Those were made for the FWD applications if I am not mistaken. You probably could use them for the S2000 fronts but of course you would have to stay with the OEM caliper or Wilwood (they are pretty small too). I dont know anyone using the +45 16x7 SW388 fronts on the S2000. Everyone I know are running the +35 fronts. Let me know what you do..

I figure so long as the tires fit properly (i.e. no bulging or rounding of the tread), the wheel width isn't so important, whereas tire width is. I am pretty sure that 225's would fit on a 7" wide wheel, which is the size I would run in the rear if I were to run 16" wheels. If I run Mugen, I might simply go w/17's simply due to the fact that they are designed specifically for the S2000. Thanks for the input guys. I guess if all else fails, I can buy 16" +50, and see what happens. If they don't fit, spacers aren't too expensive, nor are they hard to acquire.

Thanks for the help.

The width of your rear tires should be at least 245 if not utilizing the factory S-02's. Remember, the OEM S-02's contact patch is actually bigger than 225, it's more like 250.

I was unaware of this, but I intended on utilizing the OEM tires if I were to run 16" wheels as the S-02's have good grip, and I am unaware of other 16" tires that come in the appropriate sizes. Thanks for the info though. If running 17's, I will run wider. Running 16's will allow me to simply swap my tires from the factory alloys to the aftermarket one's, so that may be a route I look into as well.
