If you don't care about warrenty then go for it. You might be able to sell your engine on Ebay or somthing. Good luck

Well bro, why don't you just get the RSX type S motor( k20a2) or you can do a frankenstien motor with a k24 bottom with a type S head.
Look around and you kind find some pretty sweet deals on a type S motor, or a frank motor. Good luck.

This isn't a direct drop in, is it? I remember some guy on 7thgencivic.com did it, and a lot had to be fabricated. Unless some company's come out with a kit?

It should just drop right in. But I think you have to put it in from underneath instead of dropping from the top.

let me give you my opinion since you want it. that would be one hell of a stupid thing to do. first off your car is still practically brand new.
why spend that much money for a engine that might have more miles then yours, it could be around the same it could be less.
if you want speed why not just put 50 shot of nos, have your basic bolt ons dyno tune and you still looking at only a couple thousand for all of that brand new.

or the last thing which i think would be smart, if you have 6000 dollers to spend on a engine swap trade your car in with that 6000 dollers and get a faster car, since it seems like your not happy with your car's speed.

That's because his was one of the first swaps. It was done by Import Builders in LA.

Otherwise, like one guy said... the motor mounts are out by Hasport and they are making motor mounts for the K24 motor as we speak.

You could find Si motors for 2-3 grand if you don't want to spend a lot of money. 4-5 grand for an RSX-S motor or otherwise the R motor for a little more if you don't mind running 93 or higher octane.

EDIT: Personally, I wouldn't dump 2 grand in the D17A2 although by now the issues of issues with bolt-ons responding has been solved and more parts for the engine are being released slowly but surely. Turboing the D17s has become a lot more common than before. But still I would rather start with a more powerful block with tons of aftermarket support than a less powerful engine with less popularity and lesser support. That's just me.

In the end, I'd just ask myself how fast I'd want to go and then how exactly do I want to go fast.

Strip the interior? You pretty much covered it all right there, if you are not wanting to do any of the things you listed then I don't really know.

i think turbo will be ur easiest route for power. I'm not even sure if they make cams for the 7th gen ex civic.

I think a company just released some pistons for the D17. But like I said, if you want to build up the engine you have, you're gonna either have to wait for more parts or get creative.

dont waste your money trying to build that engine all motor... just spend the money and get a good turbo setup... Even then, you won't be satisfied, unless you build the engine to handle boost.

I'm just wondering... how "fast" do you want to go if you don't want to buy some bolt ons, f/i, etc.? At first it sounded like you wanted to be on the level of the higher model Hondas... Si/RSX-S but what do you expect to gain with only 2 grand for a new car that's an inline-4? Perhaps you bought the wrong car for your budget and expectations?

BTW: You could get some lightweight/forged 15 inch rims.
