Should the head bolts be torqued to the same value as stock when using the toda headgasket that is 1mm thick?

yes. torque value is a function of the bolt, nothing else

Actually the elasticity of the gasket as no relation to the torque value. The torque is simply the force applied to the gasket. The elasticity would have an effect on the deformation of the material under that perticular force.
It's like attaching 100 lbs at the end of rope and at the end of a large rubber band. You are applying the same force to both but the deformation will be different.
Further more I would tend to beleive that the OEM and Toda gasket are made of the same material (ence the same elasticity)

Thanks JPP. I know a torque value has to do with physical dimensions of the bolt and the material and a bunch of other stuff. But I would think that the engineer that gave the torque spec would have to take into account how much the gasket must be compressed to create the proper seal.

But, in consensus, the torque should be the same. Thanks again.

 

something else to consider: the torque spec will change if you don't use the recommended lube on the bolts, and make sure that if your new gasket is thinner than stock, that your dowels are short enough, and your dowel registers deep enough to accomodate, or your gasket will not seal your head onto the block. same goes for a milled head or decked block.

You're still using a metal gasket. Its not like going from a piece of iron to a foam nerf gasket.

Use what spec is specified by the bolts (either OE honda or ARP or whatnot)

 

either way always check the studs after you heat cycle the engine a couple if times
