How much would it cost to switch from automatic to manual? Thanx peepz~

 

What car is this? My 97 hatch started off as an automatic but now it sports a standard 5-spd with a B18C motor. It's a lot cheaper to do if you change it while you are swapping the motor. Otherwise, it's not really worth it...For Civics, I'd say a auto-5spd swap should cost around 1000-1500. You can just source all the 5spd parts on your own(expect around 5-700 for the parts) and just pay someone labor to do it for you. The 6g civics are pretty much straight forward in terms of swapping in a 5spd into an auto car. The 5g Civics I believe you will need to reweld a tranny mount in a different location...

 

It is a 2000 civic HB. I plan on doing a motor swap soon and i wanted to know how much it would be to switch it to 5 speed. 1000-1500?? dang thats alot... i thought it would be alot cheaper cuz someone told me that it would be around 500.

The 5spd parts alone will run you close to 500 or more. If you plan on doing a motor swap soon, just wait and do it all at once. It's cheaper that way because everything is out of the car.

 

So lets say i swap in a b16a2... what do you think the total estimate would be to buy the motor, drop in the motor, and switch to 5 speed? about 4Gz?

 

I don't know about 4,000 bucks, that's a lot for a B16A, I got my 97 B18C installed, my car converted to manual...etc, etc, for 3200.

 

Doesnt the b18c alone cost about $3000?? Wow... How did you get everything done for so cheap??

 

I got it done for cheap because I already sourced and bought all the parts needed for a 5spd swap so essentially, I was only paying labor for the motor being swapped into my car. You can also save money that way. Find all the parts you need to convert to 5spd at junkyards and online parts sites etc. and you can save yourself from being jipped by the shop. My 5spd conversion parts only cost me around 300...

 

But even if you had bought the parts yourself how in the world did you get it ALL done for $3200?? Like i said... isnt the motor itself about $3000?? Where did you buy your motor? Most of my friends who have done a b18c swap spent around $4500. And thats without swapping auto to manual. You must of gotten hooked up or something.

 

I think im going to go buy the parts soon. Do you know exactly which parts i need to buy? If you do could you list them for me? Thanks man...
