Clutch fluid is black
I noticed that my clutch fluid is black so I'm bleeding my clutch and notice the fluid coming out is not changing color as I pour in new brake fluid. I went through a whole bottle of brake fluid and the fluid still looks dirty. Is that suppose to be normal?
did you empty the reservior of all the black junk first? It's like milk and you keep adding water... it will still stay the same color if it's really bad and you dont get all of it out first. If that is all clear then you should be pumping clear fluid out. Also bottle doesnt mean much. Is it a liter/quart or less?
The best thing is to remove as much fluid from the resivoir (sp?) first, using something like a baster that you never use for anything else again. Then wipe the interior clean. Then add new fluid and bleed. If the fluid coming out of the slave cylinder is black and is still that way after a whole bottle, I would suspect something in the system is breaking down. The flex hose between the transmission and body may be falling apart internally or the seals in the master or slave cylinders may be damaged.
Try cleaning the resivoir really well then bleed again with fresh fluid. If that does not clean up the fluid, then start looking at the other parts. If the clutch operates properly and there are no leaks, I would start with the flex hose. Good luck.
