I just got into an accident and my frame is a lil bent but the engine sounds are weird. Whenever I start the car up it makes this real loud racking noise and slowly as it goes on it dims down. Whenever I rev up it gets loud again and its like a constant knocking.

I went to a shop and they told me that the compressor was knocking against my frame but when I looked I didn't see anything? Has this ever happened to anyone?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

 

If it's not the compressor, it may be another belt driven accessory, but I bet you've already checked for that.

It also sounds a lot like rod knocking to be honest but I'd bet it's some sort of accessory.

 

How much wil it cost for a rod? I don't know much about cars, so please help me out guys

 

just go buy another engine and you will be alright....

The engine wasn't making the noise before the wreck?
If not, I wouldnt go looking for new rods just yet.
Any other symtoms other than the noise you hear? Loss of power? Idle ok? Any other difference other than the noise your hearing?
Front end accident? Any damage to the engine or just body and frame?
If a shop told you it was the compressor, you should have asked why he thought that. Did he just take a guess?

the a/c compressor pulley is only about an inch away from the front frame to begin with.

 

It does seem a lil weaker when I start the car, I'm going to just end up putting it in the shop? How much do you think I'm looking at and the collision was at the front driver side..
