Default Found the source of the faint burning smell after racing....

...I thought it was just the new rad fan offgasing, as it seemed to have gone away and I could not find anything burnt/melted...

...till i went to install the catchcan tonite and came across this:






....the oil temp, according to the gauge, was about 260+ degrees...is that enough to melt the oil line wrap? I guess so, although it is wierd that it hasn't happened before as I've seen temps like that on track before....any ideas? Should I just take it off and expose the braided lines?

Steve used cheap rubber hose split down the middle to cover mine in a few spots.
