how to tell type S from normal lude LMA
hey everyone i was just wondering how I could tell the difference between my Lost Motion Assy. I have two heads and one is a fully worked type S, and the other is stock. The problem is that I have interchanged the parts so much, i dont know what came from where, so just wondering if anyone has a picture of either a stocker or a Type S of could just give me some distinguishing feature. Thanks everyone
if one head has been "fully worked" (which I'm assuming means ported and polished, etc) then you should be able to tell by the larger bowls in the head. If you really look at them, you can tell.
If you just have a stock Type S head and a stock h22a head, I honestly don't know if there even IS a difference outside of cams, springs and retainers. But I could very well be mistaken.
If I were you, my next stop would be the Prelude forum. If there is a difference in the head, then the head stamping may be different. I can help you out on the stamping on the outside of an H22A1 head (usdm, I have one sitting here) but not the Type S.

well what do you need..
all i know is that 92-95 Lost motion assemblies are a "somewhat sealed unit" barrel shape, similiar to GSR and ITR lost motion assemblies, the 96-00 prelude ones look like a "valve spring" but they are coiled like a triangular shape near the top with a tip on them...
i learned a long time ago, that type-s and prelude 97-00 lost motion assemblies were the same, and the Euro value was comparible to like 9$ us each. so by no means a modified or heavy duty unit....
hope this helps.

i know which head is which, the problem is that I have 2 different sets of LMA. I need to use the type S, but i think what HotWheels said is on the money, so thanks guys.
