i have a act extreem pressure plate in my gsr tranny and it chatters pretty bad when i first engage it. Is that normal? i was told that they all do that by a few people. dos it just need to be broken in a little? i only have about 300 miles on the clutch.

 

thats normal. I have an ACT Xtreme with a hybrid street disc..and damn that thing was really harsh n chattery when i first installed it. But now its super smooth. It does get a little chattery when it gets really hot..like if i am driving in hot weather in rush hour traffic or something.

Drive it really easy..and do you best to be easy on the clutch...it should go away after like 500miles.

If you have a 4 or 6 puck though..its going to be really chattery / ruff..cuz thats a crazy race clutch. If its a street car i highly recommend you get the hybrid street disc (not the street..but the next model up) it rocks. And it still holds 319 ft/torque with a xtreme pressure plate on a gsr.

hey thanks for the reply. i think that is the one i have i know that it isn't the 6 puck when i ordered it (from act) they said it should work good for my set-up on the street which is a b16a and turbo set at 6 psi

 

oh cool. Give it a few hundred more miles...and be easy on it. Once its broken in it should be super smooth.

I have driven lots of clutches..and i like the ACT best..they rock.

wow...extreme pressure plate...that seems kinda harsh....i got the 6 puck with a heavy duty pressure plate and it gits clutch chatter but hey....i dont care..lol...
anyways..ive had 3 act's in all of my civics and they do kick some serious ***!

 

ya..i have heard of people doing that way to. Using a street pressure plate but with a 6puck race disc.

I have driven both and i perfer the xtreme pressure plate (race) with a hybrid street disc. Grips like no tomorrow. And i really like a heavy clutch feel...and you get used to it really quick. I get into a stock honda and almost put my foot throuch the floor when i push in the clutch. haha
