New brake pads...but still squeaking?????
Just put on bendix pads, but they are still squeking, for the past liek week. Took them off today and sanded them down alittle just in case they still had glaze on them, and they were alittle shinny still, i also sanded down the edges a little so it wasnt the flat pad agasint the rotor...anyway they are still squeking, anyone know what to do, my old pads never squeaked untill they were in need of change, my rotors are pretty good, little bit grooved on the inside but barley noticeable, someone help me out please...

I had the same problem until i applied this purple grease on the shims and the caliper! DO NOT APPLY to the PADS!! You can get this stuff @ Autozone or Pepboys for free!! It really works good

You are supposed to bleed the brakes when you get the pads changed. If you had it done recently though I wouldn't do it. The clean fluid makes a little bit of a difference in brake response as well.
Whats schucks? if u mean that they have the honda lube stuff, i have already put that on and its still squeaking, Do u think i should go back stock pads, casue these new pads are squeaking louder new, then the old pads were where they were almost completely gone.

same here....pisses me off!
something i read about squeaky brakes was interesting. they say the reason most non-oem pads squeak is that the material is harder than what is used on an OEM pad...tends to squeak more.
now i'm not sure if that's true or not, but the theory seems to hold up for my car (OEM's were silent, autozone ones squeak)

When you got crappy fluid in your car you get the squeeling. My friend's Del Sol had that same problem. His brakes were loud as hell. Changed his brake fluid which he didn't do when he changed his brakes and it fixed it. It's brake lube, the brakes need it! I had mine changed back in December and the stuff had all this crud in it already. Made a good difference in braking when I changed it and now what I need is new pads.
Besides, that would be the next step in troubleshooting this problem. You got new pads, if you had it done at a shop they may have resurfaced the rotars, you got the brake lube on right? So next you bleed the brakes....

A) Did you use anti-squeal cream??? Might want to go down to autozone and pick some up.
B) High performance pads will have a minor grinding sound to them, but they wont squeal.
C) Replacing the brake fluid to fix your brakes from squealing is about the dumbest thing Ive ever heard

Because it has worked for me...it's dumb? Wow, that sounds pretty big-headed of you. So what IS the problem then genius?

that's what i always thought too......OEM's must be softer or something??

There is a difference in performance and OEM brakes. Harder pads are going to provide more stopping power up to a certain degree of course and if that is in fact what a couple of you guys have then it could be the problem. There are so many factors your best bet it to make a little list and check off the things you can trouble shoot. Sounds like most of you have tried a spray or grease to stop the squealing so try the next idea. You could always ask a local mechanic as well.

Add me to the list of sqeaking breaks. I changed my rotors and pads, and they squeak bad sometimes, I just smile at people when they look at me!
