Default European Spec Honda Civic Dash Board + Heater Ducting VS US Spec

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a '99 Civic coupe with the standard centre console (the bit where the radio and heater switch gear is located) However, I was thinking of changing this to the US spec (or at least I believe US spec) centre console which has space for two DIN sized units as opposed to one DIN space which the european one has, I figure the US one would be more useful for dials and the like. I just wondered what the technical implications may be of this swap and whether anyone had done it before ? I note with interest the US spec dash has dials instead of the european one which has slide switch's. If anyone has any pictures of these two units in pieces that'd be pretty damn handy too but at the moment anything you guys/gal's have to offer would be fantastic.
Thanks for your time.

P.S. I posted this in the Civic forum but I'm guessing that was prolly the wrong place to put it as it's not really a true tech article. Sorry n all.
