weird sound at 1500 rpm from under the car
wuttup fellas...i got an automatic 1996 ex with 142,000 miles...when i accelerate from a stop or slow down so the engine hits exactly 1500 rpm, i get a weird metallic tinging from under the car...
i was told that i have to replace my catalytic converter a couple months ago...i'm thinking it's the cat...anyone got any ideas?...what should i do?

A dead cat can sound like that. What happens is that "the ceramic innards" separate from the metal canister body...hence the rattling @ speed. Of course, if you still pass an emmissions test...its not gone completely bad. Since your not throwing any checklights and it doens't seem to be interfering with your car's operation/fuel economy...I'd wait till I absolutely had to fix it. Like after the car fails an emmissions check.
If you can stand the rattling...
