car shaking after b16a Swap, please help I have drag tonight :)
My car shakes very badly, the engine seems to be running right and I am pretty sure everything is in right, I am thinking I might just need an alignment when I turn right the shaking gets worse and when I turn left the shaking goes away a little bit, I just don't want to pay for an alignment and then figure out that I have to change ball joints or something, if anyone has had the same problem please let me know.
I have a 90 CRX just put in a b16a swap with new CV axles, what else could be causing the massive shaking.

did it shake before the swap?
did you have put your axles in right?
like the suspension forks are they clearing the axles when you turn?
sounds like they are backwards or on the opposite sides.
did you pull the crossmember down during your swap? did you torque the torsion bars back?

I doubt that's the cause of the vibration. How excessive is the vibration you're talking about? I have a B16 in my CRX, and the vibration comes from the stiffer motor mounts. The poly bushings are harder than the OE rubber, and thus causes vibration to be felt more. I've had my car for almost a year, and it still vibrates. I just got used to it.
they also say that with a b series swap u cant lower your car too much or else youll get binding. so maybe yoru car is lowered too much
um...sorry to be
but im still learnin... what does it mean when yer axles are "binding", trying to follow along but that is the one thing i didnt know exactly what was happening... sorry, thanks...

Yes this is if he's talking about vibration at Idle. If it's vibration while you're accelerating it's an axle problem. I need to raise my vehicle as well with my Neuspeed Race springs as I have the right axles installed properly but they're just too tight.
Anybody have some taller springs for sale?

the car vibrates badly, it vibrates more and more with more speed I get I get up to 60 and it it vibrating to bad I could probably charge people to sit in my car. I am readoing the lower ball joints right now, but I still am not sure what is causing this.
my car shakes just under accelaration and its my axle, getting mine fixed tomorrow......it vibrates a lot, but nothing like unbearable....mostly noticeable at freeway speeds......accelerate.....car vibrates, let off, its cool...thats what mine does....
did you bang out around the rear motor mount bracket on the rear crossmember?
sounds to me like an engine mount vibration

I have the same prob.... i have a set of 91 integra axles in mine... but i took the retainer pin out of them so the shaft slides farther in the hub and tranny... the pin is under the outer axle boot... i still have a little vibration but only when i make hard right turns.... and one more thing have u loosend all the mounts and try to shift the motor......????
have you tried the basics of making sure your lugnuts are tight? or your wheel is centered on the hub?
i had bad vibrations in my car and i just fixed it today, i found out that one of the knuckles i got from the junkyard had a bur around the hub and the wheel would not line up right, so i dremeled off the bur and now my car is smooth as silk

What kind of halfshaft and axles are you using?
The first time i put my car together it woudnt move because the axles were too long and tight. The second time they were still binding and the car would barely move.

Does anybody know what pin he is talking about??? i gotta get my car on the road and this is the only reason it isnt because of this F*cking shaking!!! someone has to know how to solve this

As simple as this may sound, your tires and/or alignment could be off so bad that it vibrates. My mom's car vibrates when the alignment is off.
Your problem is your axle. 99% chance its your drivers side.
Im gonna assume that you removed the hub rings. What halfshaft (intermediate shaft) did you use? If its the one that came with your motor, there is a chance that you got a Y1 shaft, in which case its a -little- too long to use with the 90-91 integra axles. In this case, you need an 86-89 integra axle for your drivers side. The passengers side is always a 90-91 axle, but which axle to use on the drivers side will depend on your int. shaft. To restate that:
Y1 intermediat shaft = 86-89 teg axle
90-91 integra shaft = 90-91 teg axle
and B16a_Madwoman, axle binding is when the axle is compressed too much. If you look at one, you notice they have two "joints" which are able to slide in and out a slight bit. When the suspension compresses, the axle will normally compress as well. But if your axle is too long (wrong intermediate shaft and axle combo) then it will "bind" when it compresses. Thats basically where the thump-thump-thump comes from.
Hope this helps.

I have the integra intermedia shaft with left and right integra axles, I double check both of the axles to make sure I have them on the right side and they both were, Mainly my vibration is worse when I turn right, I hear a noise and it shakes uncontrolably. I read on hasport that all I needed was the 90-92 integra axles and thats what I got, I replaced the the lower ball joint and it seemed to get a little better, when I turn slightly to the left the vibration stops. which leads me to beleive the car needs an alignment but I wanted to hear some other peoples ideas before I go and do that becuase knowing my luck I will spend $40 on an alignment and it will still shake.
