Strange missing
I've got a 95 EX VTEC with 70K miles on it. A few days ago I managed to notice it missing or stuttering just a little when I pressed lightly on the pedal. I can idle fine, put my foot in it and it's cool too, but when I barely press on the pedal just enough to put some strain on the engine, it has a short, quick miss. Here are some symptoms:
I had no check engine light for 2 days, but on the way to the mechanic's place it came on for a few minutes then went off.
Everything from the distributor to the plugs have been changed
Pulled valve cover, everything there was good
Checked compression and it was good
When it misses, it's only on a single cylinder, the second one from the left as you look at the engine.
If anyone has any ideas of what this could be I'd appreciate any suggestions. Either we have overlooked something or there are other issues we haven't found yet.
Thanks!

How did you find out which cylinder is missing? This was my problem: with the car running put your hand ontop of the plug wires where they go down into the head. If you can feel a clicking with your hand ontop of it. I found this out about a month after i changed my spark plugs and i was missing every now and then, found out that one of my spark plugs was alittle loose. oops, live and learn. Another thing that can cause that is if the spark plug wire is not making proper contact with the plug. Hope this makes alittle as its damn near 5 in the morn.
The valve cover was off. The guy working on it did something where he could see the cylinder stop firing. We've checked the EGR valve, plugs, wires, valve assy., and last time I called him I asked him to move the injectors around to see if the problem followed the cylinder or injector. Someone also mentioned the EGR opening too fast...dunno anything yet though.
Thanks
Thanks
