I'm going to upgrade my headlight bulbs pretty soon... So what bulbs do you guys run??? Any recommendations?? I was thinking about going Sylvannia Silver Star. I remember putting on Toucan bulbs on my mom's car before and it started out bright but later faded and was not as bright as oem bulbs.

 

do a 9005 conversion with the silverstars, thats what i did. its not going to look as bright as h.i.d.'s however i think it is the best look that you can get without using the overwattaged piaa or other bulbs that burn twice as hot. My friend had the pia bulbs and one of them would go out every 5-6 months. Im pretty sure it is because it uses too many watts and heats up much more than regular bulbs.

9005 silverstar conversion looks really good on my car at night, i really like it, and it looks MUCH better than the stock bulbs.

 

No bulb will even come close to the look of HID's. its like saying you want incandescent lights in your house that give off flourescent light. Just forget about that and get something that works.

 

yeah 9005 conversion is the poor mans HID's.

I'm currenlty running one HID and one 9005 while one of my ballast gets repaired.

HID is twice as bright.

 

if you want to stick with stock bulbs I would try to find some polarg bulbs. they give off really good lighting. the razo zero white is very very close to true HID look but the light output is not as good. if you want to go cheaper route i would go for the kryptons.. they are also very white and a tad brighter than stock.

 

I second the 9005 conversion with the Silverstars... if you're in for a budget... get the Cool Blues. Sylvannia...can't go wrong with them.

Why waste the money on aftermarket 'colored' bulbs anyway? You want HID look get hids you don't have the money to spend on hid's, then you don't have it to waste on bulbs... (bulbs that you have to replace a ton are a waste) Only reason for hid is more light on the road not the they are a cool color... :/
anyway unless yopu are ridically increasing the amount of light the bulb puts out swithcing to a hid look bulb can actually make it harder to see...

I did the 9005 conversion with silverstars and they both burned out at the same time one time when I had to drive 2 hours back home, it sucked cuz I had to use brights the whole time. They lasted about 10 months though. I just have the cool blues right now and they work fine.

 

whatever you decide..just dont get any of those fake knock off blueish shitty bulbs. they suck and your visibility at night and in shitty weather is terrible. If anything do the 9005 conversion for now. but best yet, save for HID cuz no bulbs can match the light output of em. but the 9005 conversion with silverstars are a sure bet for better light output over stock. theyre like extreme white so thats good. in fact i used the sylvania CB's and they work fine. cheaper than the SS's virtually same light output. theyre not blue at all. good luck

 

HID's are worth the wait... i wanted to add foglamps to brighten up the front of the car... waited and waited... and found a HID kit for a little more money. I wouldnt go back now

 

i got the newest set of PIAAs in my EP , they are bad ***, hands down the closest ive seen yet and ive seen almost all of them . they were on the expensive side though. i think like $80 when i got em .

i just got done converting my Silverstars 9006 to 9005! The light beam is freakin white as hell! Took me about an hour and half to 2hrs to complete.. but it was well worth it (had to do some soldering). I bought the bulbs at Shucks for like $25 a bulb, so total it costed me about $55. Is the purpose of converting to 9005 is to use your high beam bulbs as low beams???? Anyways thanks for the replies.. i love it!

all you guys are wasting 50-60 bucks on fake bulbs that you gonna blow or throw away. just save up 300 more hid kits run from 370-400 if you look around. if you get HID just for the color you dont deserve HID
