Automatic transmission problems...
I'll start off by saying i have a 91 accord ex with an automatic transmission. Recently the S light has been coming on and the car wasn't shifting by itself. So...i did some research and found an online service manual at honda.co.uk. so i did the troubleshooting procedures and it turned out that there was a loose connection between one of the wires that go to the shift solenoid. i repaired that and took it for a test drive. everything went nice for about 2 miles and then the S light came on again. the online manual says that there should be an led on the automatic control unit that blinks just like a regular ecu led. well mine doesn't have an led, so i just used a wire to jump the jumper that's by the passenger floor and it's supposed to make the S light blink with an error code. that's how i originally found the loose connection the first time. well now the S light is coming on but when i jump the jumper, the S light stays solid and doesn't blink. also, this seems to be an intermittent problem. sometimes i'll start the car and start driving and it'll shift by itself and everything seems to work. then the S light will suddenly pop on and the car won't shift by itself and it seems like the lock up clutch isn't engaging because the engine will rev but the car just hesistates. i think(and hope) that's an electrical problem but have no way of determining what the error is. any suggestions?
