Group car carrier for Expo 4
Has anyone ever tried getting a group together to split the cost of trucking their R's to the Expo? I can't take off enough time to drive there, and I wouldn't want to put that many miles on my car anyway. I know that there aren't enough R's here in east Tennessee to fill a car carrier, but I'm within 200 miles of Nashville, Atlanta, Lexington, and Asheville NC. How many cars do those carriers hold? Does anyone in any of those cities think that he could get a group together to fill one?
Pay for me to drive cross country and I'll drive your car to arizona.
Hmm...
Fly to east coast, drive to arizona.
Repeat as needed.
This could be a good summer job.

Will you drive half of the way in reverse so that I don't put any miles on it?

You've got a year. If you start now, you can slowly take your car apart and FedEx the pieces to Phoenix one by one, and have a friend there re-assemble everything for you.

Why no serious responses? I'd love to drive my car to Phoenix, but the drive time alone would add six days to my trip. I made some major cross country road trips in my youth, but thirty hours of driving wears me out now. If airline tickets are still cheap as dirt next year then there is no way I'm driving. And there is no reason to attend the expo without my car. So does anyone have any other suggestions?

I wouldn't think you need a group to get a discount. Nor do I think you'd get a discount just because all the cars are the same model. There are numerous car shippers. You could start looking here. http://www.movecars.com/toc/fi...ional Coast to coast is gonna cost you at least 1K with your insurance covering it. BTW thats one way. You'll have to do the math I guess. -Jaseun

That is a great idea - I've never heard of that service, something I should look into.

I was just looking on Amtrak.com, and it looks as if the only origin and destination they offer for the auto train is btwn Lorton, Va nad Sanford, Fl.
Sorry bro! you may want to contact them just in case though. Here is the link

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out, but If these are like most car movers they take forever and cost a fortune. I'm sure that if I could get a whole load of cars leaving from the same spot with the same destination then I could get a big discount.
I'm also going to check out amtrack. I know that they don't service this area, but I'll find out how close they come.

Auto Train only goes North/South.
You better ship your car, fly there or DRIVE there.
