Just found out today- CRXs get HOT in the summer
Wow. This is the first really hot day here in Texas since I bought my first CRX a few months ago. I suppose because unlike most cars, the top half of the car is pretty much all windows, they get really hot in the summer.
So now it looks like I've got another unexpected expense- getting the windows tinted ASAP. How well do CRXs respond to tint? Is it going to considerably help cool the car off? Or since there is so much glass surface area, does it not really help much?

Get one of those sun visor things to use for your front windshield when you park the car. I also use a car cover.

I have full tint, but only a light 25%. It helps with the glare in your eyes hands down, but as far as the heat issue goes it is going to get hot in there regardless.
yah but the real kicker is
this heat + no ac

the tint doesnt really help in texas, its hot regardless, so if your concerned about heat, no i wouldnt get the tint cuz its not going to help. park in the shade.

My compressor clutch is bad...so it wont kick on. I have a all black car int./ext. plus am full light tint. I sweat friggin' bullets in there. Time to get a new compressor.
yeah dude... ac went a while back... i got white **** all on the inside of the hood... and now thre no belt on it. **** it... ac is over rated
Keep the sunroof in the "popped up" postion. That will help the air vent out. Dark tint will help quite a bit too. A sun shade for the front windshield is also a must, crx seats fade easily.
I have 5% rears and 15% on roll ups. Id reccomend 5% on the rear hatch window and the rest like 15% or 25% so you can still see at night. Tint help to keep the plastic inside from turning to dust and kept the seats from fading and the heat went down alil.

yeah, it was 112 yesterday on my way home w/o using my ac since my condenser fan broke and I can't use the ac when its bumper to bumper on my way home from work cause the temp creeps up towards hot.......talk about sweatin!! ****** Arizona
remember to leave your windows/sunroof cracked open a bit, or else youll get a crack in a window somewhere from the heat. Happened to me, so now i have a crack from heat and a crack from a rock
Hell yeah, it gets hot. I just usually open the sunroof and both windows and then its kinda nice and breezy, I do have a little tint on all the windows except for the front and the hatch. The hatch use to have tint, but due to the fact that I could barely see anything during the day and jack **** at night, it had to come off.
A cheap approach to keeping the steering wheel and shifter **** from being hot is to use a towel to cover both when you leave your CRX in the sun. Works for me

AC is a must for me. Tint does help, but it works better if you have AC. It will keep the sun from heating up your AC air inside the car. Definitely get a reflective sun visor, your hands will thank you later. And last, if you can park in the shade, do it. It makes a huge difference. There's nothing better than zooming down the freeway with your AC on.

well I think just depending on the state you live in and how humid/hot it is there your gonna want A/C or not. I live in UT and it's not that bad usuall in the 80's but lately it's been getting into the high 90's an it sucks with no A/C.........Just make frequent stops at places that have A/C for a couple mins to cool down,LOL
No way I can take it w/o ac in AZ...........fugg that.......I went about 3 yrs w/o it when I had my 1st 2 EFs with B16s.......next time I do a swap, I'm buying the AC bracket for reallllllllz
i had to get rid of the ac when i did my swap, it used to work perfectly too, nice and strong. Do i regret taking it out? well i have to go to work in a suit, in the dead of summer where in the metro area its been known to get in the hundreds, lets just say there were many a times i got dressed at work.

dude.. DC/VA/MD heat is the worst.. sure, it's like 85 degrees, but with 60-75 percent humidity!! oklahoma felt cool in summertime compared to DC..
I think i can vouch for some damn mad heat comin up. In new england, the damn weather never seems normal, in the winter it gets -30 (no joke) and can up to 110 with 100% humidity. Now think of that weather, me in my silver CRX hf, and no AC! LOL time to drive the ***** in a pool!
Right now it gets about 80-85 some days with like 100% humidity, i feel its gonna be another blazin summer!

I took my entire a/c system out in december last year when I did my swap then immediatley put it back in in June. If anyone wants an extra Sanden compressor I think I have a couple laying around the garage here in Austin.
I broke my climate control switch, the next day whadda know it caps 98 degrees outside. Plus I sweat like a ****, that adds to the fun. But I got the AC fixed, so thats good. But Im going to be takin it out when I do the swap. Then get it back in as soon as I fabricate a mount... The only problem is, the AC compressor doesnt like the 7500rpm shifts.....

But the B16A pulley underdrives the compressor compared to the A6 pulley.
