I'm just curious as to what I can pull out whilst still OBDII. I will be switching to OBDI soon (w/ PYR P06 ECU), but this way I can compare my OBDI/II results back to back w/ no other changes......it should prove to be interesting. I'll be able to compare the advantages (power-wise) of OBDI vs. OBDII first-hand. Rumor here is that peak numbers should be about the same, but that I should expect about a 20+/- whp gain in the mid-range by switching to OBDI.......We'll see!

On an LS/VTEC Setup it's not a true OBD1 to OBD II comparison. The fuel and timing maps aren't optimized on the OBDII for your setup.

OBDII is pretty bad for most mild street setups when compared to a tuned ECU on cars that OBDII was designed for.

Good luck but I wouldn't waste the money dyno tuning.

simply switching from a p73 to a p06 will do very little.

neither are optimized for your setup. a 'chipped' ecu won't help you much either, if you want to see how much power you can get, you need at least a vafc, better would be a hondata.

He has a V-AFC.

I do not understand the point of guessing.

One could tune the car to make 140whp or 180whp. How can you make a prediction without knowing the ability of the tuner?

well put to you too.

vafc or not, that is no comparison, to compare a obd1 and obd2 with a vafc. just because an ecu is obd1 doesn't mean anything, its how you adjust the fuel maps, timing, etc.

Let's just make the assumption that the tuner is quite competent and base our guesses on that.

if you were using one of my custom ecus then I'd say 193hp/138ish tq ... how it is as you listed = 188/131

What's with all the guesses??

You do know there are a lot of ways to tune. Top end sacrifices mid range sometimes, awesome mid range might require you to give up some top end, and all-around good tune might not have the best mid or best top....

This is worse than bench racing/magazine racing. At least they have numbers by which to go on, this is basically shots in the dark with a gigantic margin of error and no idea what your goals are.

I thought that H-T existed for 2 reasons: as a learning tool or as entertainment. You are clearly not contributing to either. This post was simply created in the interest of entertainment. I'm pretty sure that everyone here understands that there are many variables in the realm of tuning, and perhaps I needed to make my query more specific...."What is your guess for peak whp and wtq. based on the items I have listed, assuming: 1)everything functions as designed, and 2)the tuner is substantially competent and has sufficientknowledge to perform the tuning". Let's just assume that I will be tuning for a good, smooth, all-around curve with very little sacrifice of midrange for top-end. With all that said, and considering that fact that we in the Honda-world are pretty familiar with the way our engines perform with said modifications, don't you think that we can make a decent guess (at-least the same ball-park) at how this setup will perform JUST FOR KICKS?
