Default Getting my PFC tuned (interesting but long story) part 1

The day finally came today. I finally took my car in to get my Apexi Power FC tuned. It had been a loooooong break in period, and the car ran great untuned, But I was not getting the lowend torque that I wanted, and the engine knocked after 6000rpms, so it was time to tune.

I had been in contact (by e-mail) with a Power Excel shop called "Garage TT", 40km south of Yokohama (where I live). They specialize in building race spec Evos. I had been in contact with a technician named "Inagi-san." Yhe e-mails were very in dept and techinical often going beyond the scope of my technical knowlege about cars. This guy must be good, I thought

The trip there was long. With all the traffic, it took me just short of 2 hours to go 25 miles . But when I pulled in, I was greeted by a race built Evo VII and a Silvia Spec R in their drive way..They were very sexy!!

I went into the shop where a mechanic greeted me.

"Hi, I am looking for Inagi-san," I said.
He smiled and said "have a seat, I will go get Inagi-san"

Hmm...That wasn't Inagi-san ehh... I though to myself.

I sat there fo about 5 minutes watching a Best Motoring video playing on the VCR. It was an EVO VII special.

A somewhat attractive MILF'ish type lady in her mid-30's, wearing an apron walks in with a cup of coffee. She served it to me, as I watched the wringles around her eyes become more pronounced as she smiled.

"Hi" She says casually, "Is that your Turbo R out there?"
"Yeah," I said somewhat puzzled, "how did you know it was turboed?" I asked.

"Well, for the last couple of months you had been telling me all about it in the e-mails"
I flinched bigtime!! Holy ****! This chick is Inagi-san!! She's my tuner! I thought to myself. Trying not to look too suprised (as it might offend her), I continued the conversation.

"Oh ...o yeah that's right...Sorry, I'm so forgetful lately," I said trying to play it off...but I have a feeling she didn't buy my act.

"So how's it been running...turbo Type Rs must be really nice!!" she said
"Yeah, but it wasn't running so well today...The weather has gotten hot so major loss in power"
" Yeah, turbo cars tend to do better in cooler weather". she went to a long technical explaination as to why turbo do lousy in hot weather, and why intercoolers should be used at all times.

"So, what do you plant to do...how do you want me to tune you car?" A simple question that I had no answer for. How??...I want it fast, torquey, a real street monster I thought. I felt really stupid because I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to sound like a lame-*** rice boy to this chick...I mean technician.

"Um..I just want as many horses you can safely extract out of her," I said.
She smiled.
I have successfully made myself into a meathead riceboy I thought.

"Let me rephrase, do you autocross? If so, what tracks do you go to; Do you want it tuned for a lot of highend for places like Fuji Speedway, or do you need a lot of lowend for the twisties at Tsukuba."

My jaw dropped! First time in a while I had no idea what I wanted. I don't Autocross at all although I had entertained the thought of doing a few runs at Tsukuba some day.

"I don't autocross" I said shamefully.
"Street racer?"
I looked down in my lap trying not to show my guilt.
"Occassionaly, but not often" which was the truth.
"Stoplight, highways, or mountain battles?"@she asked casually as if she asked the question everyday.
"Ummm...highways and stoplights ...I guess..."
She smiled..."Yeah? I also prefer stoplight battles too, especially in the middle of the night. But the cops have been out a lot lately on weekends, so I haven't been able to go out"

My jaw dropped again...I felt like I was in the Fast and the Furious movie. I think I was falling in love with this chick..uuuh technician .

"Alright, I think I know what you want. Here is what I will do. Tomorrow, you car goes on the dyno and I will tune the PFC. There are a lot of cells I won't be able to tune on the map on the dyno, so I will need need to street tune the maps. As I said earlier, a lot of cops on the weekends, so I will have to do this in the middle of the night...hopefully I can have it back to you in 3 or 4 days...is that okay?"

At this point I was in la-la land. She was turning me on, so I could not answer right away. After about 5 seconds of imagining her and me out on a date, I finally was able scrounge up a week little "yes" as a response.

"Good as soon as I'm done, I'll give you a call...your cell phone okay"
Anytime babe I thought .."uuh yes...anytime" is what came out

(to be continued)

pardon my japanese culture ignorance, but i thought "san" meant mr.?

at work we deal with a japanese company and they only seem to call the males "name-san." i don't remember them calling women "name-san", but i could be wrong.

just a little OT question...

That has to be one of the most interesting stories I have read in the forced induction forum. Please continue wit the details it was really funny to read.. And just imagine she will be sitting probably in a nice short skirt at midnight in your ride, probably with her boyfriend making joy rides in your car and doing GOD knows what in your SEATS!!

Oh sorry I am losing my train of thought again..

Great story... Keep us posted!

First off, I think this must be shop must be PROFESSIONAL !!!
By just thinking of the questions she asked, like what tracks you run and that kind of stuff, she is professional ! She probably helped a lot of customers with race cars to run on the tracks !

Second... man... she sounds hardcore !! she is those kind of woman where you see in racing movies, where she is escaping from the cops !! haha.... this is cool as **** !!

yes, post a picture of her !!!!

And yea, man, bring your car to a track !! it will be fun !!!

Keep us posted !!

and how much you have to pay ??

Quick, marry her before someone else does. And have a JDM sweet marriage ... and "just married" on the back of the Turbo R in Championship White shoe polish.
