rack and pinion boot
my rack and pinion boot is broken ... [ bellow ] anyone ever change this part in there car yet? ... if so it would be helpful if you can explain how to do it step by step. i have a 1 hour time limit tomorrow between school and work and thats all the time i have for the next 2 weeks. soo i wanted to do it as fast as possible and not have to worry about figureing it out. it would be a lot of help thanx
When you are in there replacing the boot check your inner tie rod end and make sure there's no play in it. You can get dirt/debris in it from the ripped boot and then you need to replace that too.
With the car on the ground have someone steer the wheels back and forth while you get your hand under there onto the inner tie rod end. See if you can feel any Up & Down movement or if the actual tierod end is moving in/out. Either of these = time to get new inner tie rod.
