The front suspension just creaks like hell when i'm driving, weapon R coilovers and eibach springs. Not new parts or anything, probably just worn, but i cant figure out what part might be causing it. the spring itself, the plastic boots on the top or bottom or the strut. Any clue what makes it squeek really bad? The rears are the same configuration and they're fine.

squeeks? maybe something to do with your brakes?

 

naw eibachs are good springs but im sure you know that speed racer.. anyways .. take a look at your bushings. check and see if any are really coroded or if your rubber boots filled with grease between the ball joints are still good.. on older civics the bushings tend to wear around 120-130k .. not much you can do except get new one wether it be stock or aftermarket.

 

check you're spring perches and make sure that they aren't cracked. My suspension was squeeking really bad on one side, and that was the culprit.

 

This is a simple and easy trick i do for suspension noise. Motorcycle chain lube! Point and shoot to spray away unwanted squeeks! The shock bumper, coils, connecting assemblies swaybars and end links. Your ride will be smooth as silk and water proofed for the cost of a hearty Taco Bell Meal!

the car is 15 years old you shouldn't expect much better even with the suspension changed

 

Is it safe if there are cracks?

I have squeeky noises too and im planning on getting new coilovers. I have eibach springs right now too....

 

I have no squeeks.....then again the suspension was completely rebuilt and a E.S. kit was installed....I think that all your old original joints and bushings are crying for attention.

 

I saw an article on CRX suspension noise on some mechanics
tech page can't recall the URL though.The front end of my '90 Si
squeakes under ouick accel/decel eration.
And the webpage said it could be crossmember bolts or
strut tower bolts. I haven't got around to doing it yet to see if those are the causes.

I don't know if i would call a cracked spring perch "unsafe," but it's not something that i would want to drive around with. Just cause i can see the whole thing breaking off at some point and causing some major damage one way or another.

 

do you have a strut bar?

jchxcrx: the "spring perch" (thanks 4 the tech term) is fine as well, it's old but stays around the spring and isn't worn through/cracked.

Ef *****: I fear installing that bushing kit. What a crapload of work! how much information comes with the ES Kit?
Art: No strut bar on there but i do have a cheap ebay one available to put on there. Would it help that much in chassis noise?!

 

if you hear squeeks check your upper control arms (ball joint) and the lower ball joints my did that for the longest time, replaced them ans the squeek is gone
