i've been beating on the street by some guys i've raced...and they've beaten me by doubleclutching....i want to know how to doubleclutch...even though it can ruin my motor and tranny, i would like to know how...just to learn....test it out...and maybe use it once in a while....i rather granny shift.

Double clutching is what truck drivers do. I used to drive a big boom truck and the transmissions do not have synchronizers.
Double clutching is when you: push the clutch in, pull it out of gear into neutral, let the clutch out, push the clutch back in a second time, and put the truck into the next gear....matching RPM where you need to.

It has nothing to do with driving a car. Someone has played a horrible joke on you son. Now quit watching those goddam movies!!

as politely as I can say this, doubleclutching has absolutely nothing to do with drag racing whatsoever. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Whoever told you it did was lying, horribly.

Why would you shift different street racing then drag racing? Like I said...doubleclutching is what you do in a semi or dump truck. Honest.

I think he means when people came out the hole and sometimes bog, then hit the clutch again and let the revs climb up, anyway, it's no big help, you should know how to lauch your car anyway.

 

There is a guy on here named Paul Walker - forget what his login is, but he can tell you about granny shifting, and not double clutching like you should.

from a standing start..most people rev the motor up to a point where they feel that when the clutch is "dumped" the power of the motor will spin the tires and the motor doesn't bog down...if they mess up and didn't rev it high enough..thats when they will step on the clutch again to get the motor to rev and hopefully spin the tires..but it only works in first gear...any other gear will be a waste of time..most people with low HP cars do this trick..lol

 

This is all bullshit. There is one definition for double clutching...and one use for it. Thats in a large truck.
