quick filter question
I put the icebox and filter into my car but wen I was oiling it.. I forgot that the comptech filter also has material on the top unlike the OEM one which jsut has plastic. By the time I realized this I ran outa filter oil so I massaged the oil as well as I coudl up to the top and tried to rub the excess onto the top.. u can't really tell it's there though... does a lot of air pass through that top part? should I get another can of oil and respray it?

I'm talking the tip of the filter, where the rubber stump is that goes in the hole in the airbox. on the USDM one it's all plastic on top.

I cleaned mine about 2 months ago with the filter kit, and the top of the filter wasnt dirty at all, mostly the sides. I wouldnt be too worried about the small top portion, but if you want just massage the oil from the sides to the top or just get more oil.

Just order a can of oil and cleaner direct and don't pay the inflated Comptech prices.
And when I look inside my Comptech filter I notice that the front portion is just the green foam and not the second white layer like the inside of the cylinder. So I understand what you are saying.
You shouldn't have any major issues till the oil arrives.

I work at a motorcycle shop and basically any spray on filter oil will work. It doesn't have to be UNI, but Twin Air, Silkolene, etc. will work fine. Just make sure that you don't oversaturate the filter, or it will make it run a bit rich. I doubt you'll have trouble locating a shop, since there are a plethora of them in SoCal.
