My question is what is the Sensor left next to the thermostate

Looks to me like a knock sensor, anyone???

opps nevermind people...friend told me it was a temp sensor switch

It's the thermoswitch. Lowers the temperature at which your radiator fan turns on. Works well with a low temp thermostat.
