Sensor Cleaning
My dohc zc started throwing a code 6, coolant temp sensor. The harness I used came from my old a6 and it was dirty as hell so how can I go about cleaning the connector? Carb cleaner? I dont have a multi to test it yet but will by this weekend. Also I read that the a6 sensor can be swapped and just wanted to confirm that so that I can try that b4 grabbing the multi. Thanks!
I'm 90% sure you can pretty much use any coolant temp sensor you'd like to. I just grabbed a CT sensor from my old D16A6 and plopped it into my B16A when the original died, and it's working perfectly for me
The sensor isn't really cleanable, if you pull it out and look at it. It's just a probe, like the end of a thermometer. There's nothing really to clean aside from wiping off a little old coolant residue - and you can do that with a rag. Any oil or grease on the plug you can remove in whatever way floats your boat, as long as you allow the agent to dry or wipe it clean before installing the plug again.

Yeah I pulled the one off my a6 and it fit fine but I still have the code.
So now I gotta go buy the multi and start testing the wires. Runs fine though. Heh, and yeah I wasnt planning on cleaning the sensor itself, just the connector. =P Thanks man.
