just wanna know how many coats of clears do you have on your car when you get it painted..
i'm painting mine tomorrow, think 5 coats would be good or too much?

 

i'm no paint expert... but thats like a bit much
3 coats should be more than enough

More is not better. Depending on what type and brand of paint they will be using, too many coats can actually turn yellowish instead of pure clear. Too many coats can also cause adhesion problems and durability problems.

3 coats is all you need, and is enough to allow for a wetsand and buff job.

Brand, type, application, and the buffing job on the paint is all that counts.
