Do a search.

Also do not plan for future mods.

Just get the car and enjoy it stock.

It is a better car than you are a driver.

Enjoy it stock first - don't try to rush into mods just yet.

Try to drive it the way it is for acouple of months at least. Then when the itch is so great, you would have already had done all the research and decision on what to get after that.

Cause who knows, maybe after you get the car, you'll change your mind about what you'll be spending your money on!

Ugh...

Yes, do a Search. This has been covered many times before you probably were even interested in getting an R.

And the stock exhaust has a great sound.

2.5" exhaust with oval muffler will sound loud all day long.. - it will also do nothing else but sound loud and hurt your ears..

first, you'd want to get intake, header, cat.

theres also turbo/supercharger and other fun stuff... before you spend money on anything, research, read this board - you could save $$$ or $$$$ if you know ahead of time.

Why? Why does he have to do it in some pre-determined order??

No offense to you vtec.dc2.... But,

I hate this. It is like 'dood, you need a drop. lower that **** and it'll be tizzite'. (similar to get i/h/c/e and you'll be all good.) It IS all good as it is, isn't it? can't we all agree on that?

What ever happened to DRIVING??? I have more fun driving (around town) and going to the track than anything else. Sure it is fun to work on cars, but why spend all this money on so many mods when the car already kicks ***??

Chris - who has decided that almost all mods are done for status, to tell people about them.... who fell victim of this in the past, and wonders why everyone 'needs' to modify their car ALL the time.... I'm waiting for the 'we aren't track day bandwagoneers' statement.

BTW - (On topic part) 2.5 oval muffler sounds not so good in my opinion. It sounds OK, but I wouldn't recommend it for smooth and deep. Fujitsubo RM-01A, now that is smooth and deep. If you want something nice and quite, SMSP's exhaust, which could be called 'non sounding'.. but i'd rather hear the engine anyways.

I personally think you will be happy with the comptech exhaust, but if you are going for more mods in the future, go with SMSP or Hytech. You will be extremely happy with all of these regardless.

he has to do it? he don't have to do anything.. i offer my opinion based on my experience.. which has told me to plan things ahead the best you can or pay extra $$$ in the long run. so many people get caught up in misleading world of upgrades... but.. its not anyones fault, its only the matter of limited knoweledge on their part about whats out there and works best..

i can't read peoples mind, but if someone wants to get an exhaust as their first upgrade, i'd tell them they're wasting money, cause gains won't be significant.. i was also mislead with this n/a for itr crap, and wish i knew more about forced induction.. but nothing wrong with either way, its much better to save money in the long run.

now.. for your opinion

i completely agree, just don't force your opinions on others, only he will know whtas best for his car, he could be happy with extra 10-30whp, i will only suggest the best way to get there..

i'd agree with mild bolt on parts - after gaining them extr 30whp, at this point, i'd rather drive stock or a whole lot faster.

I can say this, DO NOT, DO NOT jump the gun on going 2.5 w/ highflow & no resonator before you have enough money to get a good sounding muffler and you end up buying the $30 "Turbo" muffler b/c it's the cheapest 2.5 one you can find...this will be a BAD decision...trust me....ugg my ears, the rice noise makes me cry every time i drive...

Why mod it at all in the beg. run sit in stock class @ auto-x ur novice year so you don't get RAPED w/ a index like me in SM...

We're trying to get audio/video up of George's car so you guys can hear the exhaust, (1) dyno run and (3) drive bys shifting 1-2-3. But we're having trouble doing the conversion from VHS-C to digi.

If it's the same as what you demonstrated for me at the expo I love it.

That blaring thing that I have on my car now has numbered days...

I miss the quiet of the stock, and speakers to listen to tunes.

The stock type-R already has a higher flowing header, cat, and dual-resonator exhaust system. It flows and sounds very nice. There is one bottleneck portion that can be replaced very cheaply. So, in my opinion unless you plan on other modifications a new exhaust would not be worth the money.

If you do upgrade and need a new exhaust then just search and read the hundreds of threads that have been posted about this. I spent months here trying to decide what I wanted. My options were limited because I neede a 2.5" system. During that time I came across some great deals and ended up going with a custom system. In order to keep it quiet I replaced the cat with an 18" glasspack muffler ($25 at the local Hot Rod Barn), and included two resonators in the exhaust system. Even with a straight-through Magnaflow muffler it is not much louder than stock.

I would say to get the Mugen. Contrary to what others think, i have noticed mine to be quite deep and smooth, even at idle. My system is Mugen 4-2-1 header and Twin loop exhaust and car sound cat.
